  • Trip introduction

If you're looking for an off-beat trek close to Mumbai and Pune, then this trek to Naneghat is the right choice for you. This trek begins in Vaishakare village to reach the mountain pass of Naneghat. The rocky trail cuts through dense jungle, treating you with historic inscriptions, rock-cut rest houses, and cisterns that date back to first century BC. And the views of the Western Ghats is breathtaking, with radiant greenery as far as the eye can see, large clouds caught between tall peaks that disappear into the grey sky, and milky waterfalls that can be seen in the distance.

    Destination

Naneghat is a historic mountain pass which functioned as a trade route between Kalyan, Konkan and Junnar. It is 55 km from Kalyan, making it easily accessible from Mumbai, and can be clearly seen from the Konkan region as you make your way towards Malshej from Kalyan. The landscape here is green, and if it rains heavily, then expect to have little streams flowing under your feet as you make way to the top.

    Destination highlights

    • Go on an off-beat trek to the historic trade route on this Naneghat Trek.
    • Explore the lush greenery of the Sahyadris.
