    Would you like to soar high above the ground, the wind in your hair, the sun just beyond your fingertips? Take your first steps into the world of paragliding with our Elementary Pilot Course.

    This sport can be enjoyed at various levels and has lots to offer – you can choose to enjoy relaxing ridge-soaring flights in moderate winds or flying in dynamic conditions to get the adrenaline rush – the choice is yours.

    You will receive a Certificate of Completion after this course, NOT a license. We also update your log book with the skills learned and tasks performed, and you will qualify for the Club Pilot Paragliding Course.

    Destination

    Space Apple is based in Virar, the best place near Mumbai for paragliding training. Being a coastal area the winds are laminar, predictable and ideal for training in the evenings. Ridge soaring and thermalling is possible in mid-afternoon. This 3-day course teaches you the basic techniques that will help you on your journey to becoming a paragliding professional. The entire course consists of five sessions. Your fitness level will decide how many flights you will have in each of these sessions.

  • Day one: Level 1

    Day 1 includes two sessions on flat ground. The first session will cover site and wind assessment, equipment know-how, canopy layout, pre-flight checks, inflation, deflation and ground handling. You will begin your introductory lesson on flat ground. Your instructor will guide you in assessing wind conditions that are appropriate for your level and in understanding your limitations. Knowing the paragliding terms is important as it will help in communication.

    In session two, you will train and tune your body movements to handle the flying equipment and forces of wind.

    Rules on trip

    Students are expected to remain completely focused during the course. Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate expulsion if found to be under the influence.

    • Minimum of six solo flights during your P1 or basic course

    • Set of notes from theory sessions
    • You will get a Club Certificate which states that you have completed the Basic Paragliding Course if you pass your theory test with a score of over 80%.
    • By default you will get a report of your P1 course which will include your flight log. This is an important document which you have to preserve in case you wish to pursue the sport further.

    What to Wear

    What to Wear

    • Sneakers or sports shoes are mandatory – if they have ankle support they will protect you better.
    • Wear thick trousers so that they offer protection – usually denim or jeans are used.
    • A full-sleeved t-shirt is ideal to protect you from sun as well as from the riser abrasions which one may get on your forearms while inflating the glider.
    • Not to wear - Avoid clothes that restrict your movement

    Equipment / Gear

    We Provide

    • All flying equipment (glider, harness, helmet, reserve, radio)
    • Transport to flying sites from Space Apple Base Camp
    • First aid and emergency facilities

    You need to get

    • Carry enough water to stay hydrated.
    • Some high energy snacks or fruits are always helpful when you do adventure sports.

    Medical Kit

    • Basic first-aid kit as well as any personal medications.
    • We have a first aid kit as well.
