CST is the biggest and busiest station of Mumbai and can be reached by local train or bus.
Peb, also known as Vikatgad, is a fort located between the panorama point of Matheran and Nakhind. A popular fort trek best explored during the monsoons, this trek gives you a chance to work your muscles on an uphill trek. You will trek through rain-drenched forests of the Sahyadris and scramble over slippery rocks to the summit. The Vikatgad trek is an easy trek and is perfect to kick start your monsoon adventures.
The Peb-Vikatgad trek starts from a dense forest, drenched in rain. The Sahyadris are lush green and the trail takes you through slippery rocks, with shrubs and wildflowers everywhere. There's plenty to see as you climb, and at the top. It is believed that Shivaji Maharaj used the caves along the fort as silos for grain storage. You'll walk through narrow passages and well-preserved meditation chambers, and there are other ancient structures at the top of the beautiful fort. A small temple perched on an outcrop of rocks makes a great photograph from the summit. The views from the fort are scenic on all sides. You can spot Nakhind from the temple as if at arm’s length and the panorama point of Matheran.
