  • Trip introduction

    The Pin Parvati Pass trek is one of the most challenging and spectacular treks in Himachal Pradesh. It is a thrilling challenge for seasoned trekkers, not suitable for beginners. This 10-day trek covers nearly 100 km and takes you to an altitude of 17,450 feet above sea level. It offers some of the most breathtaking views in the country. It showcases the contrasting landscape and culture of the Kullu and Spiti valleys.

    On this trek, you will not only trek through a constantly varying landscape but also get to see various sites like wooden bridges, high altitude lakes, streams, glaciers, etc. and you will get to sleep in tents in the remotest of areas in the middle of the Himalayas. All the while being accompanied by the towering mountain ranges and their snow-capped peaks.

    The Pin Parvati Pass is the shorter route from Kullu to Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh. It is located at an elevation of 17,450 feet and has become one of the most sought after trekking destinations for many trekkers. On the trek, you will explore the sharply contrasting culture and landscape of the two valleys that will totally catch you off-guard. You will walk through vast green pastures dotted with wildflowers, dense forests and snow-covered fields, you will trek along the many streams and lakes into the rugged barren landscape of the Spiti Valley.

    Past Experience

    This 10 day trek to Pin Parvati Pass is quite challenging, hence it is recommended for trekkers with at least 1 high altitude trekking experience.

    Certifications required

    The traveller is required to carry a medical and disclaimer certificate signed by a registered MBBS doctor.

    The traveller is requied to carry a NOC as well.

    Rules on the trip

    Travellers are required to follow instructions of the trek leader during the Pin Parvati Pass trek.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Consumption of alcohol, drugs and tobacco products like cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the Pin Parvati Pass trek.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made more than 20 days before departure date of the Kedarnath trek: 80% refund.

    For cancellations made 20 days or less before departure date of the Kedarnath trek: no refund.

    In case of no show: no refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure maximum safety of travellers and will not be held responsible for any accident, mishap or loss of life or property during the trek to Pin Parvati Pass.

    The tour operator reserves the right to alter or cancel the itinerary of the trek to Pin Parvati Pass due to any unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather or natural calamities. Travellers will bear any costs arising due to such a change in the itinerary.

  • Day 1 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Arrival at Rumsu base camp

    You will report at the Rumsu base camp by 08:00 hrs and will undergo registration process. You till then have breakfast and go on an acclimatization walk in the surrounding area. In the afternoon, you will attned an orientation programme to learn about the basics of trekking such as backpacking, marching technique and medical awareness. Later in the evening, there will be an ice breaking session. Overnight in tents at Rumsu base camp.

    Day 2 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Rumsu to Kheer Ganga

    Post-breakfast, you will leave the basecamp by 08:00 hrs for Kheer Ganga. You will be taken to Barshaini in a jeep, from where you will begin your trek to Kheer Ganga. It will be an easy trek of around 5 hours. You will pass Nathan village and then a bridge over the ferocious Parvati river. You will also get to see the hot water spring of the region. Overnight in tents at Kheer Ganga.

    Day 3 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Kheer Ganga to Tunda Bhuj

    You will start your trek at 09:00 hrs for Tunda Bhuj. It will take you around 6 hours to reach there but the trek is easy with a moderate ascend. The route runs on the left side of the Parvati River. Overnight in tents at Tunda Bhuj.

    Day 4 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Tunda Bhuj to Thakur Kuan

    Today, you will set out for Thakur Kuan. The trek is easy with little descend. You will cross a couple of wooden bridges on the way. Later, there is a climb to reach Thakur Kuan. The campsite is in the middle of a rich pasture which is quite scenic. Overnight in tents at Thakur Kuan.

    Day 5 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Thakur Kuan to Rubi Thach

    Today, you will set out for Rubi Thach, which is a 5 hour trek. The trek has little elevation. There are two difficult bridges on the way which are made up big boulders. The trek is not as challenging, though. Overnight in tents at Rubi Thach.

    Day 6 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Rubi Thach to Mantalai

    Today, you will begin your trek for Manatalai lake. It will be a gradual climb and will take you around 5 hours to reach there. The place is of religious significance and it is believed that Parvati can be seen here in a lake form. And the views here are breathtaking. Overnight in tents at Manatalai.

    Day 7 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Mantalai to Parvati side base camp

    Today, you will begin your trek to Parvati base camp. The main ascend starts today. You will pass a big stream called Kala Khor nalla, care must be taken while crossing and it is advisable that it gets crossed before 10:00 hrs. You will then continue till Parvati side base camp.     Day 8 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Parvati side base camp to Pin side base camp

    Today is the main day of the trip as you will cross the Pin Parvati Pass and go to Pin side base camp. It starts quite early in the morning, at 06:00 hrs so that you cross the glacier patch before the sun comes out. The top of the pass has a small temple, and you can see the peaks of South Parvati and Ganesh form there. The descend to Pin side base camp is bit difficult as the route can be slippery. Once you cross the Pine Nala, you will reach down to the Pin side base camp with the help of a rope. Overnight in tents at Pin side base camp.

    Day 9 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Pin side base camp to Mud

    Today you will trek to Mud base camp. It is an easy but a long trek. The initial part of the trek is on the left side of the Pin Nala, and later it joins to a road to reach Mud village. Overnight in tents at Mud.

    Day 10 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Mud to Manali

    Today is the last day of your trip, and you will start at 06:00 hrs from the camp in a jeep towards Manali. Today, you will also come across the famous Kunzum top which connects the Kullu Valley and Lahaul Valley with the Spiti Valley and Rohtang Pass while on your way to Manali. Your journey ends by 18:00 hrs.

    Overnight in tents at Rumsu base camp.

    Upon reaching the basecamp, you will first go through a registration process after which you will be served breakfast. Lunch will be served at 13:00 hrs. Snacks will be served post-orientation and dinner will be served in the late evening. | You will spend the night in tents, and you will be issued sleeping bags and mattresses for the night.

    Day 2 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Rumsu to Kheer Ganga

    Overnight in tents at Kheer Ganga.

    You will have your breakfast early as you will be leaving the campsite by 08:00 hrs. Packed lunch will be served to you on the trek itself. Upon reaching Kheer Ganga, dinner will be served to you. | You will spend the night in tents, and you will be issued sleeping bags and mattresses for the night.

    Day 3 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Kheer Ganga to Tunda Bhuj

    Overnight in tents at Tunda Bhuj.

    Today, you will begin your day with a quick breakfast, after which you will head out to Tunda Bhuj. Packed lunch will be served on the trek. You will reach the campsite by evening and dinner will be serve to you in the evening. | You will be spending the night in tents and you will be issued sleeping bags and mattresses for the night.

    Day 4 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Tunda Bhuj to Thakur Kuan

    Overnight in tents at Thakur Kuan.

    Today, you will start your trek to Thakur Kuan after breakfast. Packed lunch will be served on the trek itself. Dinner will be served at the Thakur Kuan campsite. | You will spend the night in tents, so mattresses and sleeping bags will be provided to you.

    Day 5 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Thakur Kuan to Rubi Thach

    Overnight in tents at Rubi Thach.

    Today, you will set out for Rubi thach post breakfast. Packed lunch will be served to you on the trek. Dinner will be served at the campsite. | You will be spending the night in tents an you will be issued sleeping bags and mattresses for the night.

    Day 6 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Rubi Thach to Mantalai

    Overnight in tents at Manatalai.

    After having a quick breakfast, you will leave for Manatalai Lake. You will have a packed lunch on the trek. In the late evening, dinner will be served to you. | You will spend the night in tents, and sleeping bags and mattresses will be issued to you.

    Day 7 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Mantalai to Parvati side base camp

    Overnight in tents at Parvati side base camp.

    Today, you will begin your day a little early, have a quick breakfast and head out for Parvati side base camp. Packed lunch will be served on the trek itself. Upon reaching the base camp, dinner will be served to you. | You will spend the night in tents, and sleeping bags and mattresses will be issued to you.

    Day 8 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Parvati side base camp to Pin side base camp

    Overnight in tents at Pin side base camp.

    The trek today starts at 06:00 hrs, so you will be served breakfast before that. Packed lunch on the trek. Dinner will be served at the Pin side base camp. | You will spend your night in tents, and sleeping bags and mattresses will be issued to you.

    Day 9 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Pin side base camp to Mud

    Overnight in tents at Mud base camp.

    You will begin your trek after having breakfast. Packed lunch will be served to you on the trek and dinner will be served at the Mud base camp.| You will be spending the night in tents, so sleeping bags and mattresses will be issued to you.

    Day 10 of the Pin Parvati Pass trek: Mud to Manali

    Your journey ends before nightfall.

    Today is the last day of the trip. You will begin your drive to Manali after having a breakfast. No lunch or dinner will be served to you. Your trip ends by 18:00 hrs.
