Go on an exciting, overnight trek to Rajmachi and explore the flourishing monsoon forests of the Western Ghats. On this trek, you'll hike your way to the Kondhane Caves where you can see Buddhist inscriptions from centuries ago. You'll take a dip in the cool rain water flowing over the caves at the Kondhane waterfall. Trekking over rocky mountain terrain, you'll also visit the twin forts of Manaranjan and Shrivardhan. All along the way, you'll stop at vantage points to click amazing photographs of the rich greenery spread over the Sahyadri mountain ranges.
This trek to Rajmachi and Kondhane Caves will take you over a relatively easy trail, making it perfect for fit beginners as well as experienced trekkers.

Located near the hill stations of Lonavala and Khandala, Rajmachi, also known as Udhewadi, is a small village in the midst of the tall trees and rich greenery. The village serves as the base camp for treks to the twin forts of Shrivardhan and Manaranjan.
This trek will also take you to the Kondhane Caves, a group of 16 caves decorated with carvings indicating Buddhist influence. In the months of monsoon, much to the delight of trekkers, the natural river streams pick up the rain water and make for a roaring waterfall near the Kondhane Caves.

Day 1 of the trek to Rajmachi and Kondhane Caves: Explore Kondhane
Arrive at the Karjat railway station at 08:00 hrs and meet the trek leader and your fellow trekkers. After breakfast at Karjat, you'll travel to Kondhane in shared, private vehicles. From there, the Kondhane Caves are only a 30-minute trek away. Visit the caves and take a dip in the nearby waterfall. From the caves, you'll resume trekking to explore Rajmachi. En route, you'll stop to rest and eat a packed lunch (not included in the package). Hiking through the Rajmachi forests, you'll arrive at the Udhewadi village by late afternoon. Take some time to rest at the village before visiting the Manaranjan Fort, located a 30-minute trek away.
Here, you can explore the fort, take some photographs and visit the ancient temple and lake nearby. Begin your return trek back from Manaranjan Fort by evening and head to the base village, where you'll have a traditional dinner. Overnight at Udhewadi in dormitory home stay.

Day 2 of the trek to Rajmachi and Kondhane Caves: Visit forts
Wake up early in the morning and begin the day by trekking towards the Shrivardhan Fort. An easy 40-minute trek later, you'll have breakfast with tea and explore the fort. You'll resume trekking along a flat trail and reach the village of Fanasrai. Here, you'll board shared, private vehicles that will take you to Lonavala. By 13:30 hrs, you'll arrive at the Lonavala railway station where you can board a train to your next destination. Your trip ends here.
