Early monsoon is the season of fireflies, when the forests of Western Ghats are lit up by a crowd of bioluminescent, blooming insects. The Rajmachi trail is one of the best ways to observe these fireflies, fluttering from trees to bushes with a yellow glow. This overnight Rajmachi trek leads you on this trail with a night trek through dense, bushy forests near Lonavala. After a night spent spotting fireflies and sleeping in alpine tents, you will trek to the famous Rajmachi Fort and see the lush greenery of the valley from atop the fort.
The Rajmachi Fort, perched atop the Sahyadri hills at an altitude of more than 2,700 feet, dates back to the 17th century. The fort has seen its fair share of history and has now become a popular destination for weekend treks near Mumbai. At the foot of the fort is a small village called Udhewadi which acts as the base village for this fireflies trek. The forest surrounding the village and the trail uphill comes abuzz with a hundreds of fireflies as the early monsoon showers inspire a sudden overgrowth of greenery.

Report to the Lonavala railway station at 17:00 hrs. Here, you'll meet your trek leader and begin a drive towards the Udhewadi village. Mid-way, you'll get down from the vehicle and begin trekking to Udhewadi. En route, you will get to observe a fluttering fireflies all around you. After reaching the village, you'll set up your campsite, have some dinner and head out for a night hike to explore the surrounding. Overnight in tents at Rajmachi campsite.

You will reach the base camp near Rajmachi Fort by 20:00 hrs. Dinner will be served at the campsite. You'll spend the night in tents. If it rains, accommodation may be shifted to a local home-stay. Please carry a blanket for overnight use since sleeping bags will not be provided.

For cancellations made 4-7 days before the departure of the Rajmachi fireflies trek: 50% refund.
For cancellations made less than 3 days before departure of the Rajmachi fireflies trek: no refund.
In case of no show: no refund.
All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.
Travellers are required to follow all instructions of the trek leader during the Rajmachi fireflies trek.
Consumption of alcohol, drugs and tobacco products like cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trek.
Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.
