    The Ratangad-Sonki trek is a beautiful adventure that takes you high-up into the Sahyadris of Maharashtra as you pass through lush green landscapes and mountain ranges to reach an ancient fort splayed with intrinsic beauty and historical significance.

    Stretching over 2 days, this journey encompasses trudging through the rustic village of Ratanwadi and the Ajoba Mountain Range as you trek through thick forests, boulders and rock formations. But once you reach the top, you’ll be captured by its monumental beauty! From exposing you to large gates with sculptures of Hanuman, Ganesh, Konkan and Trimbak, you’ll even catch dazzling views from the atop this fort’s natural rock peak cavity, known as the ‘Nedhe’.

    Standing at a high elevation you’ll be able to spot the Kulang, Alang and Madan forts, the Kalsubai, Katarabai and Ghanchakkar forts; a part of the Sandhan Valley and the sonki flowers that envelope the entire surrounding areas.

    Situated at an altitude of 4255 feet, the Ratangad Fort is a 400-year-old ancient hill-fort that lies in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra on the banks of the Bhandardara Lake. As it lies within the Sahyadris, the region surrounding this hill-fort is rife with breathtaking beauty. From moss-covered mountains to rich dense forests and vast meadows you’ll witness it all. However, during this season you’ll also get to witness the bloom of the Sonki flowers that are known to spread all the fort and its surrounding route!

  • Day 1 of the Ratangad-Sonki trek: Departure from Mumbai/Pune

    Pune travelers either board the 18:35 hrs Indrayani or the 18:50 hrs Maysuru-Ajmer Express from the Pune Station. Mumbai travellers, board the 22:50 hrs Kasara Local from CST. Spend the night in the train.

    For cancellation made 3 days before the departure of the Ratangad-Sonki trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made 2 days before the departure of the Ratangad-Sonki trek: 30% refund.

    For cancellations made beyong 2 days before the departure of the Ratangad-Sonki trek: No refund.

    No show: No refund.

    All cancellations/refunds on this trip will be processed after a deduction of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next and is applicable for all cancellations.

    Rules on trip

    Participants must adhere to the instructions of the trip leader/guide at all times during this Ratangag-Sonki trek.

    Consumption of alcoholic beverages/drugs/smoking is not permitted during the Ratangad-Sonki trek.

    Littering or any damage to natural habitats is strictly forbidden during the Ratangad-Sonki trek.

    Participants must be on their best behavior during the Ratangad-Sonki trek.

    Travellers are requested not to carry or apply any deos/perfumes during the Ratangad-Sonki trek.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    For Pune travellers the meeting time is 18:30 hrs or 18:50 hrs depending on which train your choose to catch. For Mumbai travellers the meeting time is 22:50 hrs sharp from CST. For the Ratangad-Sonki trek please don't be late in catching the train, as missing the train means missing the trek.

    Any additional expenses that occur due to unforseen circumstances during this Ratangad-Sonki trek have to be borne by the participant.

    In case of any loss, damage, accident or death that occurs during the Ratangad-Sonki trek, the operator cannot be held responsible.

    The operator reserves the right to change/deviate/cancel the itinerary of the Ratangad-Sonki trek without any prior notice incase of accidents or natural calamities.

    During the Ratangad-Sonki trek all members are responsible for their own belongings.
