    Trekking to Ratangad is an absolute delight. The trail is filled with yellow flowers in the lush jungle. You discover a few secret waterfalls along the way and enter the top through the ruins of the massive gate. Ratangad is a 400-year-old fort with a fascinating cavity at the top called the Eye of the Needle, or Nedhe in the local language. You can experience staying in caves on this trek to Ratangad and also visit Amruteshwar Temple in Ratanwadi village. From the top, you get the views of green hills of the Western Ghats and Bhadardara Dam.    

    Destination

    Ratangad is a historic fort perched at the altitude of 4255 feet in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra. The fort overlooks Bhandardara Dam and several towering peaks of the Sahyadris such as Alang, Kulang, Konkankada, Katrabai and also the massive Kalsubai Peak. You may visit Amruteshwar Temple in Ratanwadi village, which is the start point of the trek. Ascend through lush forests, climb ladders, discover brooks and make your way through the ruins of grand Darwaza (entrance) to reach Ratangad.

  • Day 1 of Ratangad Trek: Depart from Pune

    The bus to Ratanwadi departs from Kothrud, Pune by 23:00 hours. The bus will make multiple stops along the way to pick-up travellers in Pune. Overnight in the bus transit.

    Board the bus from Pune to Ratanwadi village. You may carry some dry snacks to munch while journeying. Remember to bring a shawl if you may feel cold during transport.

    For cancellations made more than 7 days prior to the Ratangad trek: 90% refund of the trip cost.

    For cancellations made 3-6 days prior to the Ratangad trek: 50% refund of the trip cost.

    For cancellations made less than 3 days prior to the Ratangad trek: No refund.

    In case of no show: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after processing a transaction fee of INR 200. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Rules on trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the trek leader during this trek to Ratangad.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Consumption of alcohol, drugs, tobacco products and cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trip.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap or accident during this trek to Ratangad.
