  • Trip introduction

The Rupin Pass trek takes you on a moderately-challenging, 7-day adventure in the alpine meadows of Himachal Pradesh. In the initial stretch of the trek, as you approach the Rupin Valley, you'll begin hiking through dense forests of rhododendron, past gushing waterfalls and river streams. You'll explore quaint hillside villages, untouched by the urban lifestyle. In the final stretch of the trek, you'll begin gaining altitude to reach the Rupin Pass, climbing over steep sections with sprawling fields of hard snow. From the top, you'll get mesmerizing views of the Rupin Valley, rewarding your effort with panoramic views of Himachali mountains.

    Destination

The Rupin Pass, beginning from Dhaula in Uttarakhand, takes you alongside the Rupin River with magnificent views of the brown mountain cliffs on either side of the river. Following the upstream course of the Rupin River, you'll cross the Rupin Pass and end the trek at Sangla in Himachal Pradesh. This entire valley, located in remote corners of Himachali mountains, has retained the traditional Garwahli and Kinnauri cultures of local natives. Shepherds from hilltop villages in the area have often used the meadows as grazing fields for flocks of sheep and goats.
