Sar Pass trek (6 days)

This 6 day Sar Pass trek will take you across the Parvati valley on a moderately challenging route. This trail is a great introduction to those who want to start high altitude treks. It takes you to a height of almost 14,000 feet, through beautiful landscapes, and up to the Pass. You will be trekking from Zirmi to Tila lotni, and descend down till Manikaran, crossing Biskeri and Bhandak thach.

Destination

You'll start your journey from the Naggar, close to Manali, and move from here into the upper slopes of Himachal Pradesh over the next 6 days. As you trek through Parvati Valley, you'll see pine forests, rhodendron trees, and snowy peaks in the distnace. You'll cross rivers and pass waterfalls, and have gorgeous landscapes all around. At night, you'll sleep in tents in meadows with sweet grass underneath, and wake up to the early morning sun casting a golden light onto the peaks around.

You can arrive in the morning (09:00 hrs is a good time) at Basecamp Naggar, to the campsite. You'll meet our team and receive an orientation and briefing session for the upcoming trek. After this, you can enjoy the rest of the day exploring the campsite and the surrounding area. Naggar is beautiful, and has the famous gallery and museum of Nicholas Roerich, as well as numerous other attractions. If you like, you can head to Manali for the day (transport at your own cost). Overnight in tents at campsite.

Today you'll camp at Naggar. You should try to report by 09:00 hrs, but anytime in the morning is best. Lunch and dinner will be provided at camp. If you want, you can go into Naggar or Manali (at your own cost) for sightseeing. You'll be provided with tents, sleeping bags and mats at night.

Today you'll have a short taxi ride to the start point of the trek. This is your first day of trekking, and will take you about 6 hours. Zirmi stands at about 9000 feet, which gives you views of your first big peaks. You'll camp here, with the mighty Rudra Naag mountain watching over you. Overnight in tents.

You'll spend the night at the campsite in Zirmi tonight. The views from here are spectacular, and the stars appear very close. All meals are provided for you.

Day 2 Milestone

you'll be tackling the steep slopes from Zirmi to Tila Lotni today. It can be quite challenging, and you may have snow on the ground. Walk slowly so that you can acclimatise, as you're moving to an elevation of almost 11,000 feet. You'll end at your Tila Lotni campsite, where hot soup and a delicious dinner await. Overnight in tents.

Tonight you'll camp at Tila Lotni. Try to get to bed early as you have an early start tomorrow. All meals are provided today.

Day 3 Milestone

Today you'll start early to make sure you have time to get to Sar Pass. It's a tricky climb, and you'll have to step carefully, but the top is absolutely beautiful. At the top, there's panoramic views in all directions, and the feeling of achieving your first high altitude trek is unforgettable. You'll head from here to Biskeri, a downhill trek which is a relief. Biskeri is a beautiful meadow, with wildflowers dotting the grass, and fringed by forests and mountains. Overnight at the campsite here.

Tonight you'll have a long day, but you'll descend from the colder climes of Sar Pass and into the pleasant meadows of Biskeri. Biskeri is also known as the Switzerland of this region, as it has green meadows dotted with wildflowers, views of pine forests and majestic mountains in the distance.

Day 4 Milestone

Today you'll be more relaxed. The highest and toughest climbs are behind you, and it's all descent trekking from here. You'll be relieved to be out of the snow, and in the idyllic meadows and grasslands between Biskeri and Bhandak Thach. You'll pass numerous small villages along the way, and will meet friendly locals too. Overnight at Bhandak Thach.

Tonight is your last night of camping before the trek ends. You'll sleep in tents at Bhandak Thach.

Today your trek comes to an end. You'll trek to Barshaini from your campsite, taking about 4 hours, to meet your private vehicles. You'll be dropped off at Manikaran. The trip ends here.

Today you'll trek from Bhandak Thach to Barshaini, and will be provided breakfast and lunch en route. At Barshaini, your vehicles are waiting to transport you back to Manikaran. Your trip ends here.
