    Travel to secluded villages, ride over high-altitude mountain roads and visit quaint monasteries on this 8-day Spiti Valley motorbiking trip. Accompanied by an entourage of like-minded motorbikers, you'll follow an expert road captain to visit iconic landmarks in Spiti, from world's highest post office at Hikkim to the last village on the Indo-Tibetan border at Chitkul. During the day, you'll thunder across national highways and off-beat roads, with gorgeous views of snow-capped peaks and barren mountains on all sides. En route, you'll halt to visit landmarks like the Nako Lake or monasteries like the Dhankar Monastery, making memories to last a lifetime.

    Please note that price displayed is the per person price for a booking for one motorbike rider and one pillion rider.

    Please note that an additional refundable, security deposit of INR 5,000 per motorbike, not included in the cost displayed, is to be paid directly to the tour operator.

    Your 8-day adventure across Spiti Valley begins from the plains of Chandigarh. With every passing day, you'll travel north towards Spiti, travelling through the spruce forests of Shimla with photogenic views of rolling hills as far as the eye can see. Soon, the landscape changes from lush, green valleys to cold, barren mountains.

    Surrounded by these high-rising mountains, painted with differing shades of brown and grey, you'll travel through charming hillside villages, each one a bit different from the last. After exploring the town of Kaza and the Lahaul mountains, you'll visit the crescent-shaped lake of Chandratal and end your tour at Chandigarh, with memories of an unforgettable adventure.

    Rules on the trip

    The motorbike rider as well as the pillion rider is required to wear a helmet at all times while riding the motorbike. A safety helmet will be provided to all travellers by the tour operator.

    Travellers are required to carry a valid, govt-issued photo ID card and a valid driver's licence.

    Travellers are required to follow all instructions of the road captain during the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip.

    Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited during the trip. Travellers suspected of intoxication will not be allowed to participate in the trip.

    Travellers getting their own motorbike must ensure that the vehicle is registered to the rider's name and all the relevant documents (pollution check, insurance and driver's licence etc) are in order.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made more than 60 days before departure of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: 100% refund.

    For cancellations made 45-60 days before departure of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: 75% refund.

    For cancellations made 30-44 days before departure of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made 20-29 days before departure of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: 25% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 20 days before departure of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: no refund.

    In case of show: no refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting an administration fee of INR 5,000 per person and a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. The administration fee is charged by the tour operator, the transaction fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    Travellers will be required to pay a refundable, security deposit of INR 5,000 per motorbike. Any major damage or loss to the motorbike and use of any spare parts will be deducted from the security deposit. This deposit is payable directly to the tour operator and any disputes involving the deposit will be settled between the tour operator and the traveller.

    Travellers are only allowed to store one rucksack of maximum 60 liters capacity in the support vehicle. Any extra luggage will be the responsibility of the traveller.

    If any traveller wishes to exit the tour mid-way for any medical or personal reasons, an additional charge of transporting the motorbike from the leaving point to the end point will be applicable.

    The tour operator reserves the right to alter or cancel the itinerary of this Spiti Valley motorbiking trip due to any unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff. Costs arising due to such a change in itinerary will be borne by the traveller.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

  • Day 1 of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: Chandigarh to Narkanda

    Early in the morning, you'll convene at the start point in Chandigarh and meet your road captain and fellow motorbikers. Test ride your motorbikes in Chandigarh and flag off the motorbiking trip. Taking the NH5 from the city, you'll ride through beautiful fields and sprawling farms. In the final stretch of the ride, the terrain changes from plain flatlands to green mountains, especially as you approach the hill station of Shimla. Overnight in a hotel at Narkanda.

    Day 2 of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: Narkanda to Chitkul

    Entering Spiti Valley, you'll whizz through thin forests of fir and spruce on your way to Chitkul. Most of today's journey will take you alongside the gushing Sutlej River, until it forks at the confluence of the Sutlej and Baspa rivers at the village of Karcham. Travelling past Sangla and Rackcham, you'll arrive at Chitkul, the last village on the Indo-Tibetan border. Overnight in Swiss tents or a hotel at Chitkul.

    Day 3 of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: Chitkul to Nako

    Today, you'll set off from Chitkul and retrace the route back to the village of Karcham. Here, you'll meet the Sutlej River once again, as you travel north through the villages of Sangla and Kalpa. En route, stop at Spello to rest and click photos from a view point. On arrival at Nako, take some time to rest, admire dramatic views of the valley and head out to visit the mystic Nako Lake and the Nako Monastery. Overnight in a hotel or guesthouse at Nako.

    Day 4 of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: Nako to Kaza

    Ride from Nako to Kaza, the capital city and the largest city in the Spiti Valley. En route, you'll halt at Tabo to rest and explore the village and at Dhankar to visit the famous local monastery. Make sure to follow instructions of the road captain since today's route presents a few challenging sections that require careful driving. Overnight in a hotel at Kaza.

    Day 5 of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: Day at Kaza

    Take a tour of the local attractions around Kaza. Your day begins with a visit to Komic, the highest village in the world with a motorable road. Soon after, you'll visit Langza, the fossil village of India where tiny fossils can be spotted all over. Subject to time constraints, you can also visit Hikkim, site of the highest post office in the world, and Key, a 1,000-year old monastery near Spiti. Return to Kaza by evening. Overnight in a hotel at Kaza.

    Day 6 of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: Kaza to Chandratal Lake

    Today's ride from Kaza to Chandratal Lake is one of the shortest rides of the journey, but will require quite a bit of off-road driving as you approach the lake. You'll stay in Swiss tents pitched a short distance away from the lake. In the evening, you can walk to the lake and spend some quiet time by the lake. Overnight in Swiss tents at Chandratal Lake.

    Day 7 of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: Chandratal Lake to Manali

    Begin the return journey and ride from the Chandratal Lake to Manali. You'll cross the twisting roads of the Rohtang Pass and arrive in the hill station by late afternoon. In the evening, you can head out to explore the city and visit local attractions like the Vashisht Temple or the Manali Mall Road. Overnight in a hotel at Manali.

    Day 8 of the Spiti Valley motorbiking trip: Manali to Chandigarh

    On the last day of the motorbiking adventure, you'll do a long stretch from Manali to Chandigarh, returning to the flat and wide roads of the national highways. You'll be back in Chandigarh by late evening. Your trip ends here.
