    Embark on this exciting road trip which begins in the buzzing town of Shimla and takes you to the colourful town of Manali, cutting across the Spiti Valley. On this road trip, you'll get to explore the breathtaking landscape of the cold, desert Spiti valley, and experience the fascinating culture of remote villages.

    The highlight of this trip is the adventurous drive through Rohtang Pass, and a visit to Hikkim which is home to the highest post office in the world. You'll also visit Pin Valley, Key Monastery, Chitkul, and various other remote villages on this road trip.

    NOTE: A minimum of 5 travellers is required to book the Spiti Valley road trip.

    Destination

    Spiti Valley is a cold desert valley located in the Himalayas of north-eastern Himachal Pradesh. It is a valley which connects India to Tibet. The terrain of the valley is rugged, with towering mountains all around. And the landscape is bleached white and grey due to the extreme weather conditions of the region.

    Spiti is home to various remote villages that are tucked in the folds of the mountains, with their unique culture and heritage, numerous monasteries with their unique histories, and some of the most adventurous roads in the country with their own challenges and hairpin bends.

    Rules on the trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the tour guide during the road trip to Spiti Valley.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited during the trip.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the Spiti Valley road trip: 90% refund.

    For cancellations made between 15-29 days prior to the Spiti Valley road trip: 60% refund.

    For cancellations made 8-14 days prior to the Spiti Valley road trip: 35% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the Spiti Valley road trip: No refund.

    In case of no show: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    A minimum of INR 10,000 is required to book the Spiti Valley road trip, the balance amound has to be paid 30 days before the departure date.

    During this road trip to Spiti Valley, travellers will visit destinations at altitudes from 9,000 ft to 14,500 ft and may experience altitude sickness.

    Spiti Valley is located at an altitude with no internet connectivity and moderate road access/availability of services. Travellers are advised to take such circumstances under consideration before booking the trip.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life during the trip.

    The tour operator reserves the right to change or cancel the itinerary of this trip due to bad weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff.

  • Day 1 of the Spiti Valley Road Trip: Arrive in Narkanda

    Today, you'll arrive at Narkanda by 09:00-10:00 hrs and meet your tour guide and fellow travellers. After checking in at the hotel, you'll be taken for a short guided tour of the Kothgarh Apple Factory. In the evening, there will be a bonfire session. Overnight in otel at Narkanda.

    Day 2 of the Spiti Valley Road Trip: Drive to Chitkul

    Today, you'll drive to Chitkul which is a self-sustaining village located near the Indo-China border. The drive is 5-6 hrs long through a scenic route. After checking into your room and freshing up, you'll take a short hike to the adjoining mountains of Kinnaur Kailash range to get a better view of the valley. You'll then return to the village and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in hotel in Chitkul.

    Day 3 of the Spiti Valley Road Trip: Drive to Nako via Kalpa

    Today, you'll begin your day with a drive to Kinnaur. You'll stop at Kalpa for lunch where you'll also visit the famous Kalpa Buddhist and Hindu Temple Complex. You'll then drive to Suicide Point and Roghi Village. Upon reaching Nako, you'll check in in your rooms and take a short hike to Nake Lake and the monastery. You'll then return to the hotel by evening. Overnight in hotel at Nako.

    Day 4 of the Spiti Valley Road Trip: Drive to Mudh via Pin Valley

    Today, you'll begin your day with a short drive to Gue Monastery which is just 12 kms from Nako. From there, you'll drive to Dhankar Gompa where you'll have lunch. After that, you'll drive to Mudh and on the way, you'll cross over the gushing Pin River. At Mudh, you'll attend an interaction session with the locals where you'll get to explore the authentic culture of Mudh. Overnight in hotel at Mudh.

    Day 5 of the Spiti Valley Road Trip: Drive to Kaza

    Today, you'll wake up early and go for a short hike towards the Pin Valley where you'll get to explore the gorgeous meadows. You'll then depart for Kaza which is known as the headquarters of Kaza. Remember to shop in the colourful markets of Kaza and visit its quaint cafes. Overnight in hotel in Kaza.

    Day 6 of the Spiti Valley Road Trip: Drive to Kibber via Langza, Hikkim, Komic and Key

    Today, you'll head out to explore the quaint villages of Spiti: Langza, Hikki, Komic, Key and Kibber. Try your luck at finding ancient fossils at Langza, and visit the Key Monastery which is one of the oldest monasteries in Spiti. You'll also visit the highest altitude post office at Hikkim from where you can send postcards to your friends and family. You'll end the day's journey in Kibber. Overnight in hotel at Kibber.

    Day 7 of the Spiti Valley Road Trip: Drive to Chandratal

    Today, after having breakfast, you'll leave for Chandratal which is a breathtaking turquoise lake famous for its shape that resembles a moon. Upon reaching the lake, you can explore the lake side or just medidate on the banks of the lake. Overnight in tents near Chandratal.

    Day 8 of the Spiti Valley Road Trip: Drive to Manali via Rohtang Pass

    Today is your last day, and you'll drive to Manali via the thrilling Rohtang Pass, which is one of the highest altitude roads in the country. The drive is quite adventurous and you will be treated to breathtaking views of the Himalayas. You'll reach Manali by afternoon, after which you will have a farewell session at the hotel before you bid goodbyes to your fellow travellers. Your trip ends here.
