  • Trip introduction

Sign up for an action-packed road trip across the Spiti Valley and spend 8 days taking in imposing views of barren mountains and snow-capped peaks. Apart from gorgeous views of this cold desert valley, you'll experience the Indo-Tibetan culture at historic monasteries at Dhankar, Tabo and Key, where the walls are decorated with intricate paintings and the architecture displays the traditional Buddhist design. You'll stay in the quaint villages of Kalpa, Langza, Lhalung and Tabo, where home-stays offer a personal insight in daily life.

A key feature of this itinerary is the visit to Chandratal Lake, a crescent-shaped lake with gorgeous mountains on either side. You'll also visit the village of Mudh, located in the sparse greenery of the Pin Valley National Park.

    Destination

The land of high mountains and deep valleys, Spiti is most well-known for its awe-inspiring beauty, friendly local natives and the unique blend of Indo-Tibetan and Buddhist cultures. This is the most evident at the monasteries of Spiti Valley, some of which date back more than 1,000 years. They are often set to incredible backdrops of mountain beauty, with rolling hills painted in differing shades of brown and grey. This road trip takes you to such monasteries and other interesting destinations such as the highest post office in the world at Hikkim and the fossil village of India at Langza.
