  • Trip introduction

The trek to Sudhagad is one of the most fun treks in Maharashtra. You'll have a good climb, through thickly forested slopes and open stretches with stunning views all around. There are waterfalls thundering down the slopes around, and some tricky ridges to navigate. But it doesn't end here. Sudhagad fort is considered to be one of the best preserved forts in the Sahyadris, and there are stone-cut passages, and secret corridors to explore at the top. If you're lucky, you'll be trekking on a rainy day, when mist swirls around the ruins of the fort at the top, giving the entire place a ghostly feel.

The Sudhagad Fort, also known as the Bhorapgad Fort, is a hill fort in Raigad District. It stands at an altitude of 2030 feet, and has plenty to explore at the top. You'll find dilapidated Shiva temples and the well maintained Bhorai Devi temple, as well as small water bodies, crumbling gates and rock-cut steps. You'll also have breathtaking views of Sarasgad, Koraigad, Dhangad and Tail-Baila around.
