Trek to Tikona Fort

On this trek to Tikona Fort, you'll embark on a 3-hr trek to explore the old ruins of a historic fort, Tikona. You'll climb uphill to an elevation of 3,600 feet by navigating your way over narrow ridges on the Tikona mountain. At the fort, you'll explore the old ruins of the fort like temples and large doors, a prominent mark of 15th century architects that built the fort. From the top, you can catch spectacular views of the Tung, Lohagad and Visapur forts as well the Pawna Lake.

A relatively easy 4-km trek, this trip is perfect for fit beginners as well as experienced trekkers.


Located on top of a pyramid-shaped mountain, the fort of Tikona is a small hill fort that is accessible via a narrow stone staircase carved into the mountainside. Alongside several large doors, temples, walls and other structures, the giant entrance of the fort have made it an architectural marvel. Trekkers can also visit the Satvahan caves and the Trimbakeshwar Mahadev temple, located inside the fort.

Meet outside the Sanjay Gandhi National Park by 05:10hrs, where you will meet the rest of your team and board the bus. You will stop at multiple pick up points and reach the base village by 09:00hrs. Here, you'll have breakfast with your fellow trekkers and then begin your trek to Tikona Fort. After an exciting 3-hour trek, you'll reach the fort by noon and spend some time exploring the top before beginning the return trek down the hill. After lunch at the base village, you'll travel back to Kamshet. By 19:00 hrs, you'll arrive in Mumbai. Your trip ends here.

For cancellations made on or more than 3 days before departure of the Tikona Fort trek: 50% refund.

For cancellations made less than 3 days before departure of the Tikona Fort trek: No refund.

Rules on trip

Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the tour guide during the trek to Tikona Fort.

Consumption of alcohol, drugs, tobacco products and cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trip.

Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

Children below the age of 15 years are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The tour operator reserves the right to cancel or alter the itinerary of the trek to Tikona Fort to maximize the safety of travellers as well as staff.

Travellers will be required bear any additional costs arising due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, road blocks etc.
