This is a paragraph with little content.

This is another small paragraph.

  • Trip introduction

This Tirthan Valley trek is a long trek of 9 days, with a rest day in between, and is suited for experienced trekkers only. You'll trek through pine forests along the banks of the Tirthan river and up to the source of the river. Here, you'll be able to dip your cupped hands in and taste crystal-clear, cold glacial water. As you go deeper into the untouched landscapes, you'll be able to see rare Himalayan animals like the blue sheep or black bear, stunning mountain views, and charming little villages.

You'll be camping in fun tunnel tents with two 'rooms' and an enclosed porch area to store your luggage. Every day, you'll eat delicious meals, enjoy merry campfires and chilly evenings, and sleep in spacious tents with comfy air mattresses and soft sleeping bags.

IMPORTANT: This is not a fixed departure so a minimum of 4 travellers is required to book this trip.

NOTE: It is advised you arrive in Gushaini a day before the trek so you don't miss the departure next morning. Accomodation in Gushaini for that extra day will be at your own expense.

  • Day 1 of the Tirthan valley trek: Gushaini to Rolla

You'll meet at Gushaini early in the morning and start trekking into the park. You'll walk along the Tirthan river, and pass the charming villages of Ropa and Kauncha. The trail gets narrower and the forest thickens around you as you trek towards Rolla. Your campsite is set up for the night, and you can relax and enjoy your first night in the wild. Overnight in tents.

Day 2 of the Tirthan valley trek: Rolla to Chalocha

Today's trek takes you to Chalocha, over a short 3 hour walk. There's plenty to see and do: from crossing rickety wooden bridges to scrambling over the big rocks that line the side of the river. You'll arrive at Chalocha by lunch time, and can spend the rest of the day watching the monkeys visiting the river for a cool drink of water. If you're lucky, you might see a leopard too! By evening, your camp will be set up and a bonfire will be lit. Overnight in tents.

Day 3 of the Tirthan valley trek: Chalocha to Nada Thach

Today's trek will take you to the meadow-like landscape of Nada Thach. It is a steep climb of over 1000 feet over four hours. You'll climb through forests of oak, catching views of the gorgeous Himalayan peaks between the branches of these trees. Once at Nada Thach, your campsite will be set up and you can relax for the rest of the evening. Overnight in tents.

Day 4 of the Tirthan valley trek: Nada Thach to Majhoni

Today's trek will take you to the charming location of Majhoni. Although it begins with a descent towards the Tirthan river, this region has suffered from many landslides, thus making your progress very slow. Once you reach the river, continue in silence along its banks, as this region is home to some of the larger Himalayan animals, and you might be able to spot one. Reach Majhoni by afternoon, and spend the remainder of the day at your scenic campsite.

Day 5 of the Tirthan valley trek: Trek to Tirthan valley and back

Today's the best day of the trek, and you'll set off to Tirth, the source of the Tirthan river. You'll get spectacular views today: the meeting point of several valleys, the glacial moraine where the river starts, and the mountains all around. You might even be able to spot a bear or leopard. If you leave early, you may even get to trek ahead of Tirth towards the glacier's moraine. You'll spend the day out in these scenic settings, and then head back to Majhoni for the night.

Day 6 of the Tirthan valley trek: Majhoni to Nada Thach

Today's trekking route is a steep ascent as your retrace your steps back to Nada Thach. Once you're back in Nada Thach, set up your tents and enjoy a peaceful evening! Overnight in tents.

Day 7 of the Tirthan valley trek: Rest day or trek to Kobri

Today you can choose between a rest day at your campsite where you can do some short rambles around Nada Thach, or heading up to explore Kobri. Kobri is a 6-hour trek away, along a steep path through a forest. There are fabulous views from Kobri: the magnificent Tirthan valley, snow capped peaks and green pastures. After lunch make your way back to the camp site of Nada Thach. Overnight in tents.

Day 8 of the Tirthan valley trek: Nada Thach to Rolla

Today's trek marks the beginning of your return journey, first to Calocha via the same forested trail, and then to Rolla, via bridges, stairs and river bed rocks. Once in Rolla, set up your tents to enjoy your last night in the wild.

Day 9 of the Tirthan valley trek: Rolla to Gushaini

You can enjoy a lazy morning today as it's your last day and you only have a short trek to complete. You'll eat a big breakfast and relax at the campsite or go exploring. After lunch, you'll set off towards Gushaini, which is about 3 hours away. You'll get to Gushaini by early evening. Trip ends here.
