  • Trip introduction

History and adventure come together perfectly on this one-day trek to a monumental fort. Torna Fort was one of the first forts that the warrior king Shivaji conquered on his stellar rise to power. Standing tall at almost 4600 feet, this is one of the highest forts in the region and offers you spectacular views of the Sahyadri range and the raw beauty of the landscape. Torna Fort has two major wings stretching out, and still has the ruins of some of the ancient structures at the top, so it's a scenic and interesting trek, but it's not easy.

IMPORTANT: This is not a fixed departure trip. It requires a minimum of 5 pax for a booking confirmation.

    Destination

Torna Fort is located in Pune district of Maharashtra and is also known as Prachandagad, which literally means 'massive fort'. Because of the size and structure, this can be a challenging trek for beginners, and is best done in winters. The trek trail has moderately steep climbs, which can get tricky during the monsoons, or too hot in the summers. But in the months of Dec-Jan, the cool breeze and the mist in the early morning make this trek even more beautiful. You'll explore iconic structures like Khoti Darwaja, Bini Darwaja, Zunjar Machi and Budhala Machi, in addition to the sprawling forests on the way up.
