  • Trip introduction

    Get closer to the Himalayan giants of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri on this trek to the Annapurna Base Camp. Organized over 14 days, this trek also takes you to the base camp for Mt. Machhapuchhare, the summit of 10,500 feet tall Poon Hill and the natural hot water springs of Jhinu Danda. During the day, you'll spend hours trekking through mountains and exploring multi-coloured forests of bamboo, birch and rhododendron. All throughout, snow-capped mountain peaks of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Hinuchuli, Machhapuchhare will offer awe-inspiring views.

    Destination

    The Annapurna mountain range, home to some of the tallest mountain peaks in the world, are located inside the Annapurna Conservation Area. The base camp of Annapurna consist of a few tea-houses built for the convenience of expeditions attempting a summit bid. The base camp, located at an altitude of over 13,500 feet, is surrounded by barren mountain slopes covered with boulders and layered with thick patches of snow. The tall mountain peaks of Annapurna Dakshin and Hinuchuli overlook the base camp, offering goose bump-inducing views of the Himalayan terrain.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Travellers are required to follow instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Annapurna Base Camp.

    Consumption of alcohol and drugs is prohibited during the trek. Consumption of tobacco products and cigarettes is not recommended.

    Cancellation policy

    All cancellations made on or more than 20 days before departure of the Annapurna Base Camp trek: 80% refund.

    All cancellations made less than 20 days before departure of the Annapurna Base Camp trek: no refund.

    In case of no show: no refund.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The trek to Annapurna Base Camp is rated moderate to difficult in intensity. Accordingly, the trek is recommended only to travellers with prior experience of at least one high-altitude trek in the Himalayas.

    A high level of health and fitness is required to book this trek to Annapurna Base Camp. If you have any cardiac or respiratory conditions, or suffer from knee or spinal problems, please inform the tour operator and consult your doctor before booking this trip.

    This trek will take travellers to destinations from 4,000-13,000 feet, where travellers who have not properly acclimatized may experience acute mountain sickness.

    The tour operator reserves the right to alter or cancel the itinerary of the trek to Annapurna Base Camp due to bad weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff. Travellers are required to bear any additional costs arising due to such a change in itinerary.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life during the trek to Annapurna Base Camp.

  • Day 1 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Arrive at Kathmandu

    Land at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Here, a representative of the tour operator will meet you at the airport and escort you to a pre-booked hotel in the city. You can spend the rest of the day at leisure. Visit the local marketplace to shop for any last minute essentials or take a stroll around town to explore the city. In the evening, you'll have a short briefing session with your trek leader. Overnight in a hotel at Kathmandu.

    Day 2 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Sightseeing at Kathmandu

    Visit some of the UNESCO Heritage monuments in Kathmandu on a guided, cultural tour of the city. Driving around in a private vehicle, you'll visit local attractions such as the Patan Durbar Square, the Pashupatinath temple or the Boudhapath Stupa. Overnight in a hotel at Kathmandu.

    Day 3 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Kathmandu to Pokhara

    Board a private vehicle and begin the journey to Pokhara. Travelling across the Nepalese countryside, you'll get your first views of snow-capped mountain peaks on the horizon. The drive will take you past small villages with gorgeous landscapes alongside the Trishuli River. You'll arrive at Pokhara by late afternoon. Take the evening to visit the city's Phewa Lake. Overnight in a hotel at Pokhara.

    Day 4 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Pokhara to Tikhedunga

    Today marks the first day of your trek to the Annapurna Base Camp. You'll begin with a 2-hr drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, where you'll disembark and begin the trek. A fairly easy walk over a dirt road, the trek takes you alongside the Modi Khola River as it flows down from the glaciers of the Annapurna. At the village of Birethanti, you'll enter the Annapurna Conservation Area, and proceed to the village of Tikhedunga. Overnight in a tea-house at Tikhedunga.

    Day 5 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Tikhedunga to Ghorepani

    Heading out from Tikhedunga, you'll encounter a steep patch involving intense climbing over an uphill trail. After a challenging trek, you'll reach the hilltop village of Ulleri, where you'll get some of the most breathtaking views of the Annapurna mountains. Proceeding onward through a forest of rhododendron and birch, you'll arrive at Ghorepani, a village at the base of Poon Hill. Overnight in a tea-house at Ghorepani.

    Day 6 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Ghorepani to Tadapani

    Early in the morning, before sunrise, you'll begin trekking from Ghorepani with flashlights in your hand. Through a thick rhododendron forest, you'll scale the 10,500 feet high summit of Poon Hill. You'll reach the top just in time to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the mountains of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Later, you'll descend from Poon Hill, make a short stop at Ghorepani and proceed towards the village of Tadapani. The 6-hr trek takes you past sections of gorgeous forests and pastures.     Day 7 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Tadapani to Sinuwa

    Begin trekking from Tadapani towards Sinuwa. The trail, a mix of easy, downhill walking and challenging, steep inclines, takes you over a suspension bridge over the Kimrong Khola River. Trekking past the village of Chhomrong, settled by the ethnic Gurung natives, you'll arrive at Sinuwa by late afternoon. Overnight in a tea-house at Sinuwa.

    Day 8 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Sinuwa to Deurali

    The trek for the day will take you to the village of Deurali, where you can get closer views of the towering Mt. Machhapuchhare. The trail will lead past forests of bamboo, upstream along a river stream flowing down from the Annapurna glaciers. You'll arrive at Deurali after an 8-hr trek by late afternoon. Overnight in a tea-house at Deurali.

    Day 9 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp

    Today, you'll trek to your destination for the entire trek, the Annapurna Base Camp. Hiking past an ascending trail, you'll also visit the Machhapuchhare Base Camp along the way. Upon arriving at your destination, you'll check-in to the tea-house and spend some time exploring the base camp and admiring spectacular views of mighty Himalayan peaks.     Day 10 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo

    After a morning spent in the company of the Annapurna, you'll begin the return trek along the same route. You'll hike on a primarily downhill trail, past the Machhapuchhare Base Camp and the village of Deurali, towards the village of Bamboo. Overnight in a tea-house at Deurali.

    Day 11 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Bamboo to Jhinu

    Begin trekking from Bamboo and retrace your steps until the Chhomorng village. Here, you'll take a fork in the path and proceed towards the village of Jhinu. The small, hillside settlement is located just a short distance away from the Modi Khola River. At Jhinu, you'll check-in to a tea-house and visit the river, where a pool of natural hot water springs is located. Relax, rejuvenate and take a bath in the hot springs before turning back towards Jhinu. Overnight in a tea-house at Jhinu.

    Day 12 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Jhinu to Pokhara

    For the last day of trekking, you'll make your way down from Jhinu towards Nayapul. The route will take you alongside the Modi Khola River and past the village of Birethanti, where you'll exit the Annapurna Conservation Area. At Nayapul, you'll board a vehicle and travel back to the city of Pokhara. Overnight in a hotel at Pokhara.

    Day 13 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Pokhara to Kathmandu

    Early in the morning, you'll board a vehicle and drive to the capital city of Kathmandu. Bid goodbye to the mountains of Annapurna, since you'll be travelling back to the flatlands. In the evening, you can visit the local marketplace to shop for gifts and souvenirs. A farewell dinner to celebrate the successful completion of the trek to Annapurna Base Camp is scheduled for the night. Overnight in a hotel at Kathmandu.

    Day 14 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Depart from Kathmandu

  • Day 1 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Arrive at Kathmandu

    Overnight in a hotel at Kathmandu.

    Arrive in Kathmandu and spend the day at leisure. You'll be accommodated in hotel rooms at Kathmandu on twin-sharing basis. You'll be escorted from the airport to the hotel in a private vehicle. The hotel will generally be located in the Thamel area of the city, located 20-30 min drive away from the airport. Since no meals are included in today's meal package, you can visit any of the restaurants in Kathmandu to have meals at your own expense.

    Day 2 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Sightseeing at Kathmandu

    Overnight in a hotel at Kathmandu.

    Head out for a day of sightseeing in Kathmandu and visit the city's heritage attractions. A tour guide will accompany you at all times in a private vehicle. You'll be accommodated in the same hotel as yesterday. Today's meal package includes breakfast at the hotel. You can visit any of the restaurants in Kathmandu to have additional meals at your own expense.

    Day 3 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Kathmandu to Pokhara

    Overnight in a hotel at Pokhara.

    Travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara in a private vehicle. In the evening, you can visit the city's popular Phewa Lakeside area. You'll be accommodated in hotel rooms at Pokhara on twin-sharing basis. Today's meal package includes breakfast at the hotel. You can visit any of the restaurants in Pokhara to have meals at your own expense.

    Day 4 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Pokhara to Tikhedunga

    Overnight in a tea-house at Tikhedunga.

    Travel from Pokhara to Nayapul in a private vehicle and trek from Nayapul to Tikhedunga. You'll be accommodated in basic tea-houses at Tikhedunga. In all tea-house accommodations, if twin-sharing rooms are unavailable, you may be allocated dormitory-style rooms on multi-sharing basis. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 5 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Tikhedunga to Ghorepani

    Overnight in a tea-house at Ghorepani.

    Trek from Tikhedunga to Ghorepani. You'll be accommodated in basic tea-houses at Ghorepani. In all tea-house accommodations, washroom facilities will be common to all guests at the tea-house. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 6 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Ghorepani to Tadapani

    Overnight in a tea-house at Tadapani.

    Trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani. You'll be accommodated in basic tea-houses at Tadapani. All tea-house rooms are usually equipped with a bed, blanket and bed sheet. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 7 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Tadapani to Sinuwa

    Overnight in a tea-house at Sinuwa.

    Trek from Tadapani to Sinuwa. You'll be accommodated in basic tea-houses at Sinuwa. Some travellers prefer bringing their own sleeping bags to use in tea-houses. The tour operator will provide you with one, if required. You may also buy or rent a sleeping bag at Kathmandu or Pokhara. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 8 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Sinuwa to Deurali

    Overnight in a tea-house at Deurali.

    Trek from Sinuwa to Deurali. You'll be accommodated in basic tea-houses at Deurali. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. While non-vegetarian options are present on the tea-house menu on most days, travellers are advised to stick to vegetarian dishes for concerns of health and fitness.

    Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp. Throughout the entire trek, you'll be accompanied by an experienced, English-speaking trek leader as well as a support staff of cooks, helpers and porters.     Day 10 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo

    Overnight in a tea-house at Bamboo.

    Trek from the Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo. You'll be accommodated in basic tea-houses at Bamboo. Since travellers will be trekking on remote routes at altitudes of 4,000-13,000 feet, availability of services will be fairly limited. Accordingly, travellers are requested to moderate expectations of comfort and luxury. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 11 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Bamboo to Jhinu

    Overnight in a tea-house at Jhinu.

    Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu. Throughout the entire trek, you'll be accompanied by porters who will carry a limited weight of your personal luggage. The group will have one porter per two trekkers. You'll be accommodated in basic tea-houses at Jhinu. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 12 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Jhinu to Pokhara

    Overnight in a hotel at Pokhara.

    Trek from Jhinu to Nayapul and travel to Pokhara in a private vehicle. The tour operator will take care of all government permits and entry fees such as the Annapurna Conservation Area permit and the Trekker's Information Management System card. You'll be accommodated in hotel rooms at Pokhara on twin-sharing basis. Today's meal package includes breakfast only. You can visit any of the restaurants in Pokhara to have meals at your own expense.

    Day 13 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Pokhara to Kathmandu

    Overnight in a hotel at Kathmandu.

    Travel from Pokhara to Kathmandu in a private vehicle. You'll be accommodated in hotel rooms at Kathmandu on twin-sharing basis. Today's meal package includes breakfast and dinner only. For dinner, you'll visit a popular restaurant in Kathmandu to try some authentic Nepalese cuisine. You can visit any of the restaurants in Pokhara to have meals at your own expense.

    Day 14 of Annapurna Base Camp Trek: Depart from Kathmandu

    Your trip ends by late morning.

    Check-out of the hotel and avail a transfer service from the hotel to the airport. Your trip ends here.
