  • Trip introduction

    This adventure takes you into misty Himalayan heights to see a centuries-old glacier and to witness a river being born. The landscape changes as the trek progresses, from idyllic meadows filled with flowers and shrubs to rocky outcrops and craggy peaks. You'll camp in stunning locales, sleeping under the stars and listening to the wind as it whistles past.

    IMPORTANT: A minimum group size of 6 pax is required to make the booking.

    Destination

    This trek begins with a drive along the Beas river, past the wide and scenic locales of Solang Nullah, and into the charming Dhundi. From there, the uncommonly beautiful trekking route winds up through the mountains, giving you views of famed peaks like Hanuman Tibba and Shitidhar. Every campsite is a delight, located either in the midst of riots of wildflowers or with 360-degree views of glaciers and massive peaks.

    Rules on the trip

    Participants are advised to come a day earlier in order to acclimatize themselves perfectly.

    The trip leader's decision is final.

    Participants must respect local culture and should not litter or deface natural structures/monuments.

    In case you wish to have your personal pack carried on a horse/ porter, the extra cost is INR 1000 per pack and there is a 8 kg limit per pack. This must be communicated to the operator before the trek begins. Partial offloading of the pack is not allowed. If you decide during the trek to avail of the horse or personal porter services, separate charges will apply. No suitcases/strolleys/duffel bags will be allowed.

    Cancellation policy

    Refund and cancellation:

    If you cancel 45 days before the trip begins, 30% of the trip cost will be charged

    If you cancel 30 days before the trip begins, 50% of the trip cost will be charged

    If you cancel less than 30 days before the trip begins, or, are not present when the trip begins, no amount shall be refunded.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The operator will accept no liability for any damage, losses and expenses suffered by any client as a result of sickness, quarantine, weather conditions, war, strikes, riots or any other cause outside our control.

    Any damage, other than that attributable to fair wear and tear, to the equipment by the participants will be billed to the participant.

    In the event of any dispute, all matters will be subject to the sole jurisdiction of the courts of Himachal and the prevailing laws of India shall prevail.

    While maximum efforts are made to ensure the safety of the participant, the supplier, their management or employees will not be responsible for injuries of any nature, mental or physical, whether caused directly or indirectly due to any adventures or their allied activities.

  • Day 1: Manali-Dhundi by jeep

    Today is largely a driving day. The vehicles pick up the group to drive to Dhundi. The route from Manali will pass through Solang Nullah, a wide open space famous for paragliding in summers and skiing in winters; and then onwards along the Beas river. Dhundi is the last stop, from where the campsite is a short walk away. Don’t miss the first glimpse of the majestic Hanuman Tibba from the campsite.

    Day 2: Dhundi-Bakartach

    The trek for today ascends gradually from the campsite to Bakarthach, where tents are set up in the midst of wildflowers. You'll be able to see the most famous peaks of this area from here - look for Hanuman Tibba, the Seven Sisters, Priyadarshini, Friendship and Shitidhar.

    Day 3: Bakartach-Beas Kund-Bakartach

    Today's trek takes you high up towards Beaskund, from where the Beas river originates. You'll cross over moraine and the cold mountain air gives you a thrill of adventure. There are often shepherds in the open meadows around Beaskund, who are always happy to meet trekkers. Beaskund is a beautiful, mint green lake with icy waters and a serene feel. After spending a short while to enjoy your victorious climb, you'll begin your descent back to the Bakartach campsite.

    Day 4: Bakartach-Dhundi and return to Manali

    Descend to Dhundhi along the Beas. Watch it as it merges with other brooks and streams and grows before your eyes. The trek ends at Dhundhi from where a vehicle will pick you up and drop you back in Manali.

    What to Wear

    • Wind proof/water proof jacket
    • Thermal liners - upper and lower (optional)
    • Down-filled/hollow fiber-filled insulated jacket – 1 pair (get this if you want to stay extra warm at camps)
    • Raincoat/poncho - make sure it is something that will cover your daypack and camera too.
    • Warm beanie – make sure it is something that covers your ears
    • Gloves - lightweight synthetic fleece/woolen gloves

    • Backpack 40-50 lts with rain cover
    • Day pack 15-20 lts – You will use this to carry your camera, water bottle, trail layers, trail food etc. You will need this in case you choose to offload your larger pack onto a horse/porter
    • Woollen socks (these are ideal to sleep in and best to use when in camp, but are not recommended while trekking) – 1 pair
    • Toiletries – Sunscreen SPF 40+, moisturizer, lip balm, soap, toilet paper
    • Repair kit (needle and thread)
