Today is the day you begin your actual trek. You will first visit the temple at Ukhimath before walking through the town, up the hill towards Deoriatal. You'll walk through rhododendron forests, and over the ridge to Deoriatal lake. It's a small lake and has only two tea shops surrounding it. But what it lacks for in size, it makes up for in sheer beauty. It is surrounded by mountain peaks that reflect in the still waters, adding to the splendor. You will set up camp near the lake and have the rest of the evening free to explore the area around the lake. Overnight in tents.

Day 3 of the Chopta trek: Trek to Chopta

After a hearty breakfast, you'll set off on your trek to Chopta. It's a fairly level trail, and winds through forests of oak, maple and rhododendron. Either way, you'll be falling asleep to the sounds of nature outside. Overnight in tents.

Day 4 of the Chopta trek: Chandrashila Day

A long day of trekking, almost 8 hours, lies ahead today so make sure you are well rested and have eaten a good breakfast. You'll trek to Tungnath temple, which is about 3 kms away, and spend a little time there. From there, you'll trek onwards to Chandrashila Peak. As you climb, you'll get spectacular views of Chaukhamba, Bandarpoonch, Chandrashila, Nanda Devi and other peaks. You'll spend some time here, then trek back to Chopta, and further on to Duggalbitta. Overnight in tents here.

Day 5 of the Chopta trek: Return to Dehradun

You're done with the walking for this trip. Today you'll be driving back to Dehradun, giving you some time to rest your legs and enjoy the views. You'll be dropped off at Dehradun by afternoon or early evening. Trip ends here.
