  • Trip introduction

    The Kuari Pass trek is one of the most scenic treks in the Himalayas, but with the addition of the Pangarchula Peak, it becomes a memorable adventure as well. Also known as the Lord Curzon Trail, this trek is a moderately challenging one, except for one day when you’ll put your climbing muscles to the test as you climb to Pangarchula Peak, which stands tall at 15,419 feet. Your guides will take you through a brief course on climbing techniques, and may even rope up certain sections if needed. This trek to Kuari Pass will be a thrill for fit trekkers who enjoy a challenge.

    The Kuari Pass trek takes you through endless green meadows, alpine forests, and past towering Himalayan peaks. As you approach the scree-covered slopes near Pangarchula, you’ll receive the full mountain experience of roping up and clambering over boulders. At night, you and your group will stop at magnificent campsites, enjoying delicious hot meals and sleeping like babies in fresh, warm sleeping bags. This is an experience you don't want to miss.

    Rules on the trip

    The operator has a set of guidelines for the Kuari Pass trek that must be adhered to based on the tenets of ‘Leave No Trace’ & ‘Tread Light’ policies. These guidelines are very simple and emphasise on travelling in small groups, better planning, understanding impact of camping, proper waste disposal, respecting local cultures, sensitivity towards wildlife and so on.

    Participants must adhere to the instructions of the team leader during the trek to Kuari Pass.

    Smoking, consumption of alcohol, narcotic drugs etc. is strictly prohibited on the Kuari Pass trek.

    While trekking participants must follow a proper waste disposal system.

    Cancellation policy

    If you cancel 45 days before departure of the Kuari Pass trek: Full refund (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.) minus any transaction charges.

    If you cancel 30-45 days before departure of the Kuari Pass trek: 75% of trip cost will be refunded (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.) minus any transaction charges.

    If you cancel 15-30 days before departure of the Kuari Pass trek: 50% of trip cost will be refunded (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.) minus any transaction charges.

    If you cancel 15 days or less before departure of the Kuari Pass trek: No refund.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of its clients. However in the case of any unforeseen mishaps, the operator will not be liable for any injuries caused or for loss of life.

    If due to bad weather, sickness, natural calamity or any other personal reasons, the itinerary of this trip is changed, the extra charges for accommodation, transport, etc, will be borne by the guests. The same will be applicable if a guest decides to change the itinerary due to personal reasons, injury, or bad health.

    Participants will be required to fill up an indemnity form before the Kuari Pass trek. You are requested to inform the operator if you're suffering from any major ailment and submit your health certificate.

    All fixed departure trips will be run according to a fixed schedule and standard services. In case of individual requirements, the operator may not be able to entertain the request or may have to charge additional amounts. Please be aware of this fact.

  • Day 1 of Kuari Pass trek: Drive to Auli

    You'll meet the operator at Haridwar Railway Station at 7:00 hrs and will be driven to Auli. The drive is along a scenic route passing by the Ganga and Alaknanda rivers. They also cross the holy towns of Devprayag and Rudraprayag. Overnight stay in tents.

    Day 2 of Kuari Pass trek: Auli to Tali

    Your trek to Kuari Pass begins today. After an early breakfast, you'll be driven to the start point of the trek and will set off. The route winds through beautiful Auli meadows, offering views of the famous Nanda Devi Peak. Continuing along the trail, you pass through mixed forests, which are a bird-lover’s delight. You'll then traverse the spectacular Gurson meadows and some mixed forests to reach the campsite at Tali. Overnight stay in tents.

    Day 3 of Kuari Pass trek: Tali - Kuari Pass - Pangarchulla base camp

    The route today boasts spectacular views of some renowned Himalayan peaks like Chaukhamba, Kedarnath, Neelkanth, Haathi-Ghodi, Kamet, Mana, Dronagiri. We traverse a series of beautiful grassy meadows and breathe in the fresh, pine-scented air en route. After roughly 3 hours of trekking, we reach Kuari pass where we stop for a while to admire the views of the surrounding areas. We then start walking towards the Pangarchula base camp for the night. Overnight stay in tents.

    Day 4 of Kuari Pass trek: Pangarchulla summit day!

    Begin your day early to prep for the summit climb. After a quick breakfast, you'll begin the ascent to Pangarchula peak. The climb is challenging, but not too technical, and you'll walk on uneven terrain of boulders, scree and rocks. Your effort is rewarded with superb views of mountains like the Nanda Devi, Trishul, Changbhang and the surrounding valleys. Shutterbugs will be thrilled with the myriad photo opportunities the summit presents. Then you'll begin the descent to Khulara, where the campsite is set up. You can unwind for the rest of the evening. Overnight stay in tents.

    Day 5 of Kuari Pass trek: Khulara to Dhak trek, drive to Auli

    After a leisurely breakfast, you'll begin the descent towards Dhak, a small marketplace. You'll be driven from Dhak to Auli, where your tents are set up for you. Overnight in tents.

    Day 6 of Kuari Pass trek: Return to Haridwar

    You'll check out from the campsite after breakfast and be driven back to Haridwar Railway Station. You should reach by 18:00 hrs. Your trek to Kuari Pass ends here.
