  • Trip introduction

    This 3 day trek to Nagtibba is a moderately challenging trek and is perfect for newbies and participants with some experience looking for a short trek in the Himalayas. The trek takes you through thick Himalayan jungles and offers magnificent views of famous Himalayan peaks like Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Neelkanth, Black peak etc.

    The trek begins and ends at the beautiful hill station of Dehradun which is the capital city of the northern state of Uttarakhand.

    Destination

    Situated in the foothills of the Himalayas, in the northern state of Uttarakhand, Dehradun is a prime tourist hub as it is surrounded by opportunities for adventure. The trek begins and ends at Dehradun but takes you through some different landscapes altogether.

    Starting at 3500 feet elevation, the trip takes trekkers through the beautiful town of Mussoorie and offers mesmerizing views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Participants trek through high altitude forests, streams, and sprawling meadows, to finally reach Nag Tibba Peak at a towering elevation of 10000 feet.

    Rules on the trip

    GIO has a set of guidelines that all participants must adhere to based on the tenets of ‘Leave No Trace’ & ‘Tread Light’ policies. These guidelines are very simple and emphasise on travelling in small groups, better planning, understanding impact of camping, proper waste disposal, respecting local cultures, sensitivity towards wildlife and so on.

    Cancellation policy

    If you cancel 45 days before departure: Full refund (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.)

    If you cancel 30-45 days before departure: 75% of trip cost will be refunded (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.)

    If you cancel 15-30 days before departure: 50% of trip cost will be refunded (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.)

    If you cancel 15 days or less before departure: No refund

  • Day 1: Dehradun-Nagtibba base

    Participants meet at Dehradun railway station at 07:00 hrs and board a vehicle and head for Pantwari village via Mussoorie. It takes about 5 hrs of trekking to get to Nagtibba base from here, with moderately challenging slopes. They will arrive at the campsite early in the evening. Participants then explore the area and enjoy their evening tea. At night, they relish delicious food around a campfire under the star-spangled sky. Overnight stay in tents.

    Day 2: Nagtibba base-Jugle campsite

    After an early breakfast, participants trek to Nagtibba top and enjoy majestic views of the snow clad mountains of Garhwal region. Participants also view the famous Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Neelkanth, Black Peak and many more peaks from here. After a brief siesta, the group heads on towards today's campsite, to end the day with a freshly prepared dinner around a bonfire. Overnight stay in tents.

    Day 3: Jungle campsite-Dehradun

    After breakfast, participants start walking down towards Tevagaon. This downhill trail offers views that are totally in contrast with those of the previous day. Participants will trek through thick jungles to reach scenically located Tevagaon. Here one can take a refreshing dip in the river flowing by. After reaching Tevagaon, the tired trekkers head for Dehradun. The trip ends once everyone reaches Dehradun railway station.
