Trekking
This is a paragraph with little content.

This is another small paragraph.

  • Trip introduction

The Pin Parvati trek is a spectacular adventure that takes you an elevation of 17,000 feet. It starts from green environs of Kullu Valley, with its flowering fruit trees and apple orchards. But the trail rises into the starker landscapes of the upper reaches of the Himalayas. Expect to see towering mountain ranges, craggy peaks, glaciers, ice walls, and more.

IMPORTANT: This 9 day trek can be challenging and is recommended to trekkers with previous experience. You will be required to cross a moderately difficult pass, do a few river crossings and walk long stretches on certain days.

    Destination

This valley is closed for most of the year as the high passes around it are often blocked by snow. The peaks around this area stop rain clouds, creating the bleak atmosphere and grey skies that are common to Ladakh, Tibet and the surrounding areas. Geologists love this region for its record of every geological age, from Pre-Cambrian ages to now, thanks to the lack of vegetation.

    Destination highlights

    • Climb to an incredible altitude of 17000 feet.
    • Witness the changing landscape from lush green vegetation to arid higher peaks
    • Negotiate tricky river crossings and scree-laden trails
    • Begin your summit attempt in the dark of the night
    • See the early morning sun hit the peaks around you while you climb

  • Day 1: Manali-Kasol-Barsheni-Khirganga

The group boards waiting vehicles to be driven to Barsheni, which is the start point of the trek. The trail starts with an easy walk through a sylvan wooded region, leading to Khirganga. The campsite for the night is set up in a beautiful meadow with sulphur springs and a few small dhabas. Overnight in tents.

    Day 2: Khirganga-Thakur Kuwan

Today you walk through meadows and forested regions, negotiating several ascents and descents, eventually leading out into the open meadows of Tunda Bhuj. The meadows are surrounded by massive granite cliffs, but the highlight of the day is the river crossing using a jhula pull (pulley bridge). Overnight in tents.

    Day 3: Thakur Kuwan-Ody Thach

Today is a fun trekking day. You will have to make a couple of river crossings, one over an exposed boulder on a small stream, and one across a giant boulder with steps carved into it. This required some help from guides, and maybe even ropes. Ody Thach is a massive meadow with the majestic Kullu Eiger peak overlooking it. Here you are sure to meet a few shepherds and get first-hand information on the condition of the trail leading to the pass. Overnight in tents.

The fun begins now! You'll have to go up to an elevation of 14000 feet. The trail takes you across a few rivulets, over steep terrain, and ending in a snow field after a moraine section. Depending on the weather, you might have to camp on snow tonight. The team sets up camp for the night here, while the guides go ahead to check the conditions for crossing the pass. This campsite is gorgeous, surrounded by glaciers and moraines, and even the rumbles of distant avalanches in the mountains around. You will have an early night today to prepare for your summit attempt tomorrow. Overnight in tents.

The morning begins between 2 and 5 a.m, depending on weather and trail conditions. You may expect to trek all the way up on snow. The trail begins with a steep climb to reach a col from where you cross large snow fields. The pass is just an hour's ascent from here. At the top of Pin Parvati lies a view that is priceless! You'll be thrilled with yourself and your abilities. Everyone rests here for some time and takes a while to admire the view. After some time, you will begin your descent through moraine, scree and rocks to get to Pin River in the Spiti Valley. At camp, a welcoming cup of hot tea awaits. The evening passes in victorious stories and anecdotes about the Pass. Overnight in tents.

    Day 8: Base camp-Mudh via Tiya-Kaza

Compared to yesterday's exertions, today seems easy. The trek is long and gentle, surrounded by greenery and typical Spiti landscapes. You'll see multi-coloured mountains, vast open grasslands with the beautiful Pin river flowing by; you'll talk to shepherds crossing with their flocks; and just in case you get too complacent, ther are a few tricky stream crossings! On reaching Mudh, you take a little time to rest before boarding vehicles to Kaza. A hotel room and hot showers await. There's a party in the evening to celebrate your successful summit, but you can expect to crash into bed at a fairly early time after a long day. Overnight in the hotel.

    Day 9: Kaza-Manali

After breakfast, your group drives to Manali via the Kunzum pass and Rohtang pass. Trip ends here.
