  • Trip introduction

    This 2 day moderate trek to Rajmachi takes you up to one of the most famous forts in Maharashtra, and gives you a chance to go wild in the rolling Sahyadris. You'll climb through green forests, ramble through the moss-covered ramparts of the twin forts of Manoranjan and Shrivardhan fort, and explore the famous Kondane caves and the waterfall here.

    In the evening, you'll watch the sun going down over the hills, and then retire to rustic village homes for the night. You'll also go for a night walk, away from the village and to the lake nearby, while the stars shine above and the owl hoots at you. It's a great getaway for adventure-seekers from Mumbai or Pune, and will let you get your feet muddy.

    Destination

    Located at an altitude of 2710 feet, Rajmachi has two towering forts, Shrivardhan and Manoranjan, built by the Maratha rulers, and still standing strong to this day. You will also trek to the Kondane caves and explore these spectacular Buddhist structures that have been carved into the rock. During the monsoon, there is a waterfall gushing over the top of the cave, and you'll often see waterfall rappelling taking place.

    Rules on the trip

    Smoking cigarettes, chewing tobacco or consuming alcohol is prohibited on the trek to Rajmachi.

    You must stick with your group at all times.

    No damage should be inflicted on monuments or natural environments.

    You must adhere to the instructions of the trek leader at all times.

    Taking photos or selfies near the edges are not allowed.

    Participants are requested to carry trash back to the city and dispose it in dustbins.

    Cancellation policy

    If cancellation is done 10 days or more before the start of the Rajmachi trek: 75% will be refunded.

    If cancellation is done 5-10 days prior to the start of the Rajmachi trek: 50% will be refunded.

    If the cancellation is done 0-5 days before the start of the Rajmachi trek: No refund.

    No show: no refund.

    If you wish to transfer your booking to someone else, or reschedule to another date, the cancellation policy will apply, and only the applicable refund amount will be transferred or rescheduled.

    In case of injury, damage to self, property or death, the operator will not be held responsible.

    The Rajmachi trek is arranged considering normal weather. In case any event is cancelled due to reasons beyond the control of the operator, such as natural calamities, riots, political unrest, public transport failure etc., a refund will be payable with respect to the given to refund policy.

    There will be no refunds or discounts given for services unused or missed due to traveller's own fault, negligence or breach of terms.

  • Day 1 of Rajmachi trek: Shrivardhan Fort

    You will have to get to Lonavala station by 09:00 hours, and will be met by the operator. After a quick breakfast, you'll be driven to Fanasrai village from where your trek begins by about 11:30 hrs. You'll get there by about 15:00 hrs. You'll have some time to rest and freshen up here, and then head up to Shrivardhan Fort by 15:00 hrs, so that you can catch the sunset. You'll come back for dinner, and then go for a night walk to the lake. You'll come back by 23:00 hrs and then it's bed time. Overnight in homestay.

    Day 2 of Rajmachi trek: Kondane Caves

    You'll wake up by around 06:00 hrs to a dewy morning in the hills. You'll walk up to Manoranjan Fort to see the sun rising, and then trek back down to Fanasrai for breakfast. You'll walk down from here to Kondane where you can spend some time exploring the caves and then eat lunch. After this, you will be dropped off to Karjat station. Trip ends here.

  • Day 1 of Rajmachi trek: Shrivardhan Fort

    Overnight in homestay.

    You'll be picked up from Lonavala station and driven to the start point of the trek. Today's package includes breakfast in Lonavala and dinner at the homestay, but you'll have to carry your own packed lunch. Do carry some dry snacks like fruit, plum cake, biscuits, etc. At night, you'll be staying in a basic homestay in the village.

    Day 2 of Rajmachi trek: Kondane Caves

    Trip ends before nightfall.

    After a day of fun in the outdoors, you will be driven from Kondane village to Karjat station. You'll be served breakfast and lunch today. The trip ends when you are dropped off at the station. From here, you can board a train to Mumbai.
