The trek to Auli and Gurson meadows is an exceptional winter trek with lots of great sights. We trek in the day, and use our beautiful mountain lodge at Auli as our base camp, where the nights are spent in the comfort of warm and inviting rooms.
This trek can be undertaken by anyone who loves the idea of being in the mountains and is reasonably physically fit, and is perfect for trekking newbies or families looking for that quick slice of adventure.
Be it short summers or beautiful winters, the Auli region is spectacular when it comes to mountain landscapes and trekking trails. There are superlative sights all along the trail. Also one gets to enjoy trekking in the snow with uninterrupted views of the great Himalayan peaks. Auli is a popular vacation and trekking destination and came into prominence for the beautiful meadows which provide excellent views of the greater Himalayas and also provide ample opportunity for skiing lovers to glide down powdery mountain slopes.
Our lodge here is spectacularly set in an apple orchard facing the mountain ranges. As this trek is based around the lodge and does not require camping out in the cold, you can reserve all that extra energy to enjoy some skiing.
Walk through thick snow on the scenic trek route | Enjoy spectacular views of high Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi | Photograph the majestic landscape and local flora and fauna | Ski down powdery Himalayan slopes
We meet in Haridwar and drive to Auli. This is a beautiful drive during which we drive through the holy towns of Haridwar and Rishikesh and later through Deoprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnprayag and Nandprayag. The route is along the Ganges at first and later along the Alaknanda. We arrive in the lodge towards evening and soak in the beautiful views of the Alaknanda valley and the mighty snow-clad peaks of the Himalayas. Overnight in the lodge.

We are mountain lovers and have pledged to bring no harm to them in our pursuit of running organised wilderness travel in the Himalayas and seek your assistance too in this regard. We are more than convinced that one can have more fun on a trip if we go about it in a way that no harm is caused to the ecology. In this regard we have a set of guidelines that we adhere to based on the tenets of ‘Leave No Trace’ & ‘Tread Light’ policies. These guidelines are very simple and emphasise on travelling in small groups, better planning, understanding impact of camping, proper waste disposal, respecting local cultures, sensitivity towards wildlife and so on. We have a complete section on our trekking code in the ‘GIO trekking Manual’. This manual will be couriered to you once you confirm a trip with us.
