    The Kashmir Great Lakes trek is one of the most beautiful treks in India, and should be on your list of must-do treks. With the astounding views of picturesque lakes, meadows of wildflowers under clear blue skies, and the snowy peaks around, you'll think you've discovered paradise on Earth.

    This trek to the Great Lakes of Kashmir takes you up to a maximum altitude of 13,750 feet, and can be done by fit first-timers too. With every great ascent, you are rewarded with scenic beauty, spectacular views of mountain lakes, and snow-capped mountains.

    NOTE: You should expect some delays when you arrive at army posts, as your documents will need to be checked. Do ensure you carry all the documents that the operator requests.

    Destination

    The Kashmir Great Lakes trek takes you through vast meadows, virgin scenic beauty and dense maple and pine forests. Your trail winds through maple trees and overlooks meadows lined by silver birch trees, spotting a few shepherd huts. You'll vist the lakes of Vishansar, Kishansar, Gadsar, Gangabal, and the twin lakes of Satsar. You'll also visit hte crater-dotted landscape of Maengandob, and see Sonamarg.

  • Day 1 of Kashmir Great Lakes trek: Srinagar to Sonamarg

    You will be picked up from Srinagar at 15:00 hrs and driven to Sonamarg, a three hour journey. The route is beautiful, and will give you a taste of the many gorgeous views that you'll encounter over the next few days. You'll be camping near Sonmarg tonight. Overnight in tents.

    Today's campsite is about 3 kms away from Sonmarg, and you'll be provided with tents on triple sharing basis, sleeping bags and mattresses. In addition, you'll also have access to toilet tents, and a kitchen/dining tent.

  • Cancellation policy

    The cancellation policy is as follows:

    For any cancellations made 24 days or more prior to the departure of the Kashmir Great Lakes trek: 95% of the total trip cost will be refunded minus any transaction charges, or you can use this amount to book any other trek with the same operator within a year.

    For cancellations made between 14-24 days before the departure of the Kashmir Great Lakes trek: 70% of the total trip cost will be refunded minus any transaction charges, or you can use this amount to book the same trek with any other batch of the same operator within a year.

    For any cancellations made between 10-14 days before the departure of the Kashmir Great Lakes trek: 50% of the total trip cost will be refunded minus any transaction charges, or you can use this amount for the same trek in the same season.

    For cancellations made less than 10 days before the departure of the Kashmir Great Lakes trek: No refund but you can transfer the same trek to a friend.

    Rules on trip

    Participants must adhere to the instructions of the trip leader/guide at all times during the Kashmir Great Lakes trek.

    Consumption of alcoholic beverages/drugs is not permitted while trekking.

    The operator reserves the right to change/cancel the plans for the Kashmir Great Lakes trek without prior notice if deemed necessary. No arguments or refunds will be entertained.

    Any event cost for the Kashmir Great Lakes trek is exclusive of any kind of insurances or medical coverage/benefits.

    Change of trek batch is dependent on the availability of seats in the batch.

    In case of transferring a trek to a friend, he/she should satisfy all the mandatory requirements put forward by the operator.

    The operator holds the right to change/cancel the policies, without prior notice.
