    The trek to Tarsar Marsar lakes in Kashmir is one of the most spectacular alpine lakes treks in India. Being a less known trekking destination than Kashmir Great Lakes, the route to Tarsar Marsar lakes have retained its raw wilderness and natural charm. Trekking in Kashmir entails walking along the vast open meadows for long hours with the views of snow-capped Himalayan views, and crossing clear-water streams along the way. This trek takes you to the heart of Kashmir, from the verdant valley of Aru to rolling mountains of Shekwas and eventually leading you the magnificent Tarsar and Marsar lakes.

    The trek to Tarsar Marsar lakes is a moderately difficult trek but suitable for beginners.

    Destination

    The Tarsar and Marsar lakes are the royal blue coloured alpine lakes located at the elevation of 12,400 ft and 13,200 feet respectively. Both lakes are snow-fed and subtly changes colour throughout the day according to the angle of sunlight. The twin lakes are notable for its peculiar almond-shaped water body, separated by a mountain. Trekking in summer to the Tarsar Marsar lakes is an opportune period to spot exotic birds and animals like the golden eagle, golden marmot, snow leopard, and musk deer, among many others. This trek offers you the unique opportunity of camping right beside the Tarsar Lake. You will also stay in tents at verdant campsites in Aru Valley, Lidderwat Valley and Shekwas.

  • Day 1 of Tarsar Marsar Lakes trek: Srinagar to Aru Valley Drive

    Arrive at Srinagar station in the morning. You will board the vehicle to Aru Valley arranged by the operator. It will be a 3-hour drive from Srinagar through the winding roads of Kashmir. Aru is one of the most beautiful base camps in India. The vast grassland of Aru is dotted with a cluster of colorful cottages, with poplar and willow trees rising high across the grassland. You will be camping here tonight.

    Overnight in tents at Aru Valley.

    The operator will offer you a ride from Srinagar railway station to Aru Valley. Today's meal package includes dinner only. You can buy lunch at your own expense on the way to Aru.

    NO REFUND will be provided if cancellation is made within 8-15 days of the departure of Tarsar Marsar Lakes trek, however, you can postpone the trek to some other departure date or you can book some another trek of this operator only.

    NO REFUND if cancellation is made within 7 days of the departure of Tarsar Marsar Lakes trek.
