This night trek takes you to Bilikal Betta which is nestled in the midst of a forest reserve. Your trail is carpeted with dense shrubs and the forest is eerily silent in the ghostly hours of the night. This moderate trek starts off in open grounds, and progresses through thicker forests and onto steeper slopes, to the ancient temple at the summit. A campfire will be lit and you'll fall asleep around it, under the open skies. In the morning, you'll wake up to a beautiful dawn over the Kanakapura range, including Kabbal Durga and Savan Durga. You'll descend and head home after that. It's a short, easy weekend out with all the fun of a night trek.
Bilikal Betta is located around 70 kms outside Bangalore, off the Kanakapura road, and is a popular weekend getaway, thanks to its proximity to the city. You'll be trekking at night, when there are hardly any people around, and enjoying the sounds of nocturnal animals and birds.
