    One of the more challenging treks in Ladakh, this Stok Kangri trek is not for the faint-hearted. Over a 7-day itinerary, you'll find yourself trekking through patches of thick snow as you gaze at a horizon lined with the snow-capped mountains of the Stok range. Your efforts will be rewarded as you climb up to an altitude of 20,187 feet and summit the Stok Kangri peak to get breathtaking views of the desolate Indus Valley. This is one of the few treks in the Himalayas that takes you to altitudes above 18,000 feet without requiring any mountaineering equipment.

    On this trek to Stok Kangri, you'll trek through a difficult trail, often swamped with snow. It is recommended that only trekkers with prior experience of high-altitude trekking attempt this trek.

    Destination

    Located inside the Hemis National Park, the Stok Kangri peak is the highest mountain in the Stok range. The peak attracts trekking enthusiasts without any mountaineering experience that are looking to embark on a high-altitude trek in Ladakh. From the summit of the peak, you can get unfiltered views of snow-capped peaks in the Karakoram range, the Zanskar range as well as the Indus Valley and the Leh city.

  • Day 1 of the Stok Kangri trek: Arrive in Leh

    Arrive in Leh and check-in to the homestay in the city. Due to the high altitude of 11,500 feet, Leh requires that travellers spend the first two days acclimatizing to the climate and weather. Make sure to eat frequent meals, hydrate regularly and take short walks. Overnight at Leh in homestay.

    Arrive at Leh and check-in to your homestay. Today's meal package includes dinner in the night. However, you can visit any of the restaurants in Leh to have lunch at an additional cost. You'll be accommodated at Leh in a comfortable homestay.

    For cancellations made 44-30 days before departure of the Stok Kangri trek: 70% refund.

    For cancellations made 29-14 days before departure of the Stok Kangri trek: 40% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 14 days before departure of the Stok Kangri: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting any transaction charges. 

    Rules on trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Stok Kangri.

    Consumption of alcohol, drugs, tobacco products and cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trek.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    The tour operator reserves the right to cancel or alter the itinerary of the trek to Stok Kangri to maximize the safety of travellers as well as staff.

    Travellers will be required to bear any additional costs arising due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, road blocks etc.
