A short 3-day itinerary near Leh, the trek from Spituk to Stok takes you into the desolate and snow-capped mountains of Ladakh that offer spectacular views of the Indus Valley. With a day set aside only to explore the native animals and birds, you'll embark on a guided wildlife tour where you can spot the Great Tibetan sheep, the Tibetan wolf and if you're lucky, even the snow leopard.
You'll trek through bushes and outgrowths of native species of plants and hear the various mountain and migratory birds chirping in the trees. Stok La or the Stok Pass, is a high altitude mountain pass at an elevation of 20,135 feet in the Indian Himalayas. A renowned trekking destination among adventure enthusiasts, the trek to Stok will take you along the gushing rapids of the Indus River to the village of Rumbak. The route to Rumbak passes through the mountains of the Hemis National Park, an undisturbed preserve of nature. At Rumbak, you’ll spend a day within the national park, spotting rare, native animals and birds. As you continue trekking, you'll reach the Stok pass where you can catch stunning views of the Indus valley and surrounding Himalayan mountains.

After meeting the trek guide by 09:00 hrs, you'll board vehicles that will take you to the Phey Bridge over the Indus River. From here, you'll disembark and begin trekking towards Rumbak. The route will take you to the Zingchen Gorge through a winding trail along the Indus River. At the Gorge, there are a few restaurants where you can stop and rest. Your trek will resume as you proceed to Rumbak through the Spituk valley. The trail, rarely frequented by snow leopards, will increasingly turn narrower and rougher. As you get closer to Rumbak, the trail grows wider into open fields with snow-capped mountains not far away. Overnight at Rumbak in homestay.

The trip begins from the guesthouse in Leh by 09:00 hrs. Travel from the guesthouse to start point of the trek will be arranged in an SUV or private vehicles. Today's meal package includes lunch and dinner. At an additional cost, you can also stop for tea and snacks at the Zingchen Gorge. You'll be accommodated at Rumbak in homestay with heated rooms, comfortable beds and common toilets.
