Destination

Basgad, or Bhaskargad, is a little known trekking destination in the folds of the Trimbakeshwar mountain ranges. Located close to Nashik, near the Vaitarna Dam, the fort of Basgad dates back to the 12th century, when it was built to protect an important trade route from Nashik to the west coast. Not much remains of the fort today, except a few ruins consisting of ancient walls, edifices and rock-cut staircases.
