Bijli Mahadev is a temple situated close to Chansari village, located 14 kms from Kullu. Legend has it that the idol of Lord Shiva was struck by lightning and shattered into pieces. The priest put it back together using butter. But every now and then, lightning strikes it again, and the priest has to reassemble it in a similar manner. Locals view this lightning as a blessing from Lord Shiva, and so the temple is famous. During the festival of Shivratri, hordes of worshippers visit, but you’ll be going during winter, so you can expect peace and quiet.
