You can get to Manali by flight (via Kullu Airport, about 60 kms away) or by Volvo from Delhi or Chandigarh.
If you're looking for an easy trek near Manali, this Lamadugh trek is ideal! You'll spend two days in the wilderness of the Himalayas, walking through forests that are fragrant with pine and admiring mountains that are capped with snow. Over 2 days, you'll cover a distance of 14 kms, but it's a gradual incline that can be done by beginners.
You'll camp in tents in a wide meadow, with the stars above and a campfire crackling nearby. It's the perfect easy trek to introduce you to the wonders of trekking in Himachal Pradesh.
Located at an altitude of 10,006 feet, Lamadugh is an alpine meadow that is ringed with trees and usually has wildflowers all over. You'll get spectacular views of the dramatic peaks of Deo Tibba and Indrasan.
The trail starts from Old Manali and takes you away from civilization into the fresh mountain air in just a couple of hours. As you climb, you'll come across rocky outcrops and points from where you can see the whole of Manali and the Beas river.

You'll have to report to the Manali bus stand by 10:00 hrs, from where you'll be driven to the Hadimba temple in Old Manali. The trek to Lamadugh begins from here. It's a gradual trek of 7 kms that takes 5-6 hrs to cover. You'll be walking through forests of walnut, maple and cedar trees, discovering waterfalls and bubbling streams as you climb. You should reach the campsite by 16:00 hrs, and can help set up the tents if you want to. You'll have some time to explore the campsite, before soup and snacks are served around the campfire. By 20:00 hrs, dinner is served. You'll have a short briefing session while you eat, so that you know what tomorrow has in store. After that, the night is yours, and you can stargaze or just sit out and admire the views before heading to sleep in alpine tents.

You'll be driven from the Govt bus stand to Old Manali, where your trek begins. You'll be provided with a packed lunch, and then will get to the campsite by evening. Snacks are served, as well as soup and popcorn around the campfire. A hot dinner will be provided later at night. At night you'll sleep in twin-sharing alpine tents, equipped with a mattress, sleeping bag and fleece liner. You'll also have access to toilet tents, separate for men and women travellers.
