This is a beautiful trek to the undulating meadows of the Vashisth Ridge. We ascend a moderately steep slope, trek along a small nullah, and then through a pine and cedar forest under a beautiful canopy of intertwined pine branches with golden sunshine peeking through. The pine forest thins out gradually and we reach the beautiful meadows of the Vashisth Ridge, which are carpeted with gorgeous wildflowers in a myriad hues.
Trek under a canopy of intertwined pine and cedar branches | Spot the cascading waters of the Jogini falls | Photograph various species of Himalayan birds | Relax in green meadows blanketed with wildflowers
We begin our trek from Chidiyari, a small village on the road to Vashisth, about 3 kms from Manali. We follow the gushing waters of a small nullah to a moderately steep slope in the midst of a pine jungle. We continue onward under a gorgeous canopy of intertwined pine and cedar branches. The trees then slowly give way to the expansive meadows which make the Vashisth Ridge.
The area is rife with wildflowers and a number of Himalayan birds can be spotted from here. We traverse the ridge and find a scenic spot to enjoy our lunch.
After spending some time relaxing and exploring the area, we start making our way back down to Manali along a different route, and spot the cascading waters of the Jogini falls in the distance. We reach the hot water baths in Vashisth by 4 in the evening, where our trek ends.
