    Minkiani Pass is one of the less explored passes by trekkers in the Dhauladhar range of Himachal Pradesh. The 5-day trek to Minkiani Pass will take you to an altitude of more than 14,000 feet. Each day you will be trekking alongside brooks and rivers, and making your way through thick forests of oak, rhododendron and pine trees. You will also explore the magnificent Kareri Lake, and stay in tents for 2 nights at the banks of this lake. This trek is also great for keen bird-watchers and wildlife lovers, as you may spot a few exotic Himalayan birds and wild animals while trekking through the forests.

    This trek to Minkiani Pass is moderately difficult and is not recommended for beginners.

    Destination

    Minkiani Pass is located 4.5 km trekking distance away from Kareri Lake, at an altitude of 14,100 feet in the Dhauladhar ranges of Himachal Pradesh. The pass is covered with huge boulders and grass most of the times. Standing at the pass, you can see snowy Himalayan peaks all around. In 5 days, you will visit the magnificent Kareri Lake, pass by quaint Himachali villages and trek alongside babbling brooks and rivers. Every night, you will be camping at beautiful locations, and sleep under the blanket of stars. Throughout the trek, you will be staying in dome tents on twin/triple sharing basis.

  • Day 1 of Minkiani Pass trek: Mcleodganj to Kareri Village Camp

    Arrive in Mcleodganj by 09:00 hours. The operator will take you to a guest house where you can freshen up and have tea/coffee. After refreshing, you will begin the hike to Kareri Village. The trail to Kareri village is through a thick pine jungle and some small villages. The trek is mostly descent except for the last part. Kareri village is atop a ridge at an elevation of 5905 feet.     After arriving in Mcleodganj, you will be taken to a guesthouse where you can change and relax. You start trekking before noon from Mcleodganj. No meals are offered today. You will have to buy breakfast, lunch and dinner at your own expense during the trek. Tonight you will be staying in tents on twin/triple sharing basis.

    For cancellations made less than 3 days before departure of the Minkiani Pass trek: no refund.

    In case of no show: no refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Rules on trip

    Travellers are required to follow instructions of the camp leader during the Minkiani Pass trek.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Consumption of alcohol, drugs and tobacco products like cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the Minkiani Pass trek.

    The tour operator reserves the right to alter or cancel the itinerary of the Minkiani Pass trek to maximize the safety of travellers and staff. Any costs arising due to such a change in the itinerary are borne by the traveller.
