Dzongri Trek

Arrive in Darjeeling and meet your trek leader. Today's journey begins as you board a private, shared SUV and travel from Darjeeling to Yuksom. After an 6-7 hr drive with scenes of tall mountains rushing past, you'll arrive at the town of Yuksom. Overnight at Yuksom in hotel.

Your trip begins as you board private, shared vehicles to travel from Darjeeling to Yuksom. You'll be accommodated at Yuksom in a hotel on triple-sharing basis. Since no meals are provided today, you'll need to spend additional to have meals at any of the restaurants or eateries en route to Yuksom.

The first day of the trek will take you from Yuksom to Tshoka. For a distance of 10 kms, you'll make your way through an increasingly uphill trail. Passing several small huts en route to Tshoka, the trail will often pass alongside the Rathong River. In the last stretch of the trek, you'll enter the Kanchenjunga National Park and arrive at Tshoka. Overnight at Tshoka in tents.

Mark your first trek of the trip as you make your way from Yuksom to Tshoka. You'll be accommodated at Tshoka in tents on triple-sharing basis. Today's meal package includes vegetarian meals of lunch and dinner. At an additional cost, you may have breakfast at the hotel before beginning the trek. As you tread higher altitude regions, it is advisable to carry blankets or shawls for warmth.

Today's journey will take you Dzongri. Stretching for 9 kms, the trail is divided in the middle by the village of Phedang. Starting with rocky terrain, the trail continues going uphill and changes to a paved path of wooden logs. Decorated by waving Buddhist prayer flags at regular intervals, the trail offers scintillating views of surrounding hills. In the second half of the trek, you'll climb over some steep slopes, with vast meadows and fields after every strenuous patch. You'll reach your destination by evening. Embark on a moderately difficult trek from Tshoka to Dzongri. You'll be accommodated at Dzongri in tents on triple-sharing basis. Today's meal package includes vegetarian meals of breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The most awaited of all days, today you'll finally trek up to the gorgeous Dzongri peaks! This journey takes about 45 minutes of moderately difficult trekking, but you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the Singalila and Kanchenjunga peaks from the top. Your day begins early in the morning, as early as 04:00 hrs. Arriving at the top just in time to catch the morning sunrise, you'll spend some time at the top admiring the snow-capped peaks of Thansing and Lamuney, among others. Trek back to your campsite at Dzongri where you can spend the rest of day at leisure. Overnight at Dzongri in tents.

Spend the morning trekking to and exploring the Dzongri top. You'll be accommodated at the same campsite in Dzongri. Today's meal package includes vegetarian meals of breakfast, lunch and dinner.

As today marks your descent back to Darjeeling, you'll begin your trek towards Tshoka via Phedang today. Retracing your steps, you'll trek across lush, green forests with rows of rhododendron trees. A relatively easy trek when compared to other treks of the trip, the trail will lead you to Tshoka in 6-7 hours. Overnight at Tshoka in tents.

Begin the return trek from Dzongri to Tshoka. You'll be accommodated at Tshoka in tents on triple-sharing basis. Today's meal package includes vegetarian meals of breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Marking the final day of the trek, you'll make your way back to Yuksom. A long day of downhill trekking, today's trek will take you across scenic hillocks with small hamlets of not more than a few houses as well as prominent villages such as Bakhim and Sachen. Just before arriving at Yuksom, you'll cross three iron bridges, overlaid over river streams and valleys. You'll arrive at your destination by evening. Overnight at Yuksom in hotel.

Embark on a relatively easy, downhill trek from Tshoka to Yuksom. You'll be accommodated at Yuksom in a hotel on triple-sharing basis. Today's meal package includes vegetarian meals of breakfast and lunch. At an additional cost, you may have dinner at the hotel after completing the trek.

Bid farewell to Sikkim, board vehicles and travel back to Darjeeling. You'll arrive back in town by evening. Your trip ends here.
