Trek to the small village of Sandakphu, located at over 11,900 feet along the Indo-Nepalese border in West Bengal, and get breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain peak in the world. Climbing over the mountain ridge, across dense woods of rhododendron and oak, you'll get spectacular views of snow-capped Himalayas on the horizon. Cloudless days and clear skies can bring views of peaks like Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu and more. En route, you'll stay in basic tea-houses, run by the local natives in small Himalayan villages, to experience the Buddhist lifestyle and tradition.
Although prior experience of trekking is not required to book this trek to Sandakphu, travellers will be required to enough health and fitness to allow trekking for 5-6 hours everyday.

The small village of Sandakphu, inside the Singalila National Park, is located atop a mountain ridge that runs parallel to the Indo-Nepalese border in West Bengal. At a height of over 11,900 feet, Sandakphu is the highest mountain peak in the state of West Bengal. The dense woods of the Singalila National Park are home to several alpine flowers like magnolia and rhododendron and wildlife like red pandas and bears.

Day 1 of the Sandakphu trek: New Jalpaiguri to Kopidana
Assemble at the New Jalpaiguri railway station by 06:30 hrs. Although transport from New Jalpaiguri to Kopidana, the start point of this trek, is not included in the package, it is strongly recommended to take the additional transfer from New Jalpaiguri. Travelling across the winding roads of West Bengal, you'll arrive at Kopidana in 5-6 hours. You can spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in a tea-house at Kopidana.

Day 2 of the Sandakphu trek: Kopidana to Tumling
Begin the first day of trekking and head towards Tumling, a small village on the Indo-Nepalese border. Trekking over a well-defined trail across mountain slopes, you'll pass through several small villages to reach Tumling. Spend the evening at Tumling to views of a crimson sunset over the Kanchenjunga. Overnight in a tea-house at Tumling.

Day 3 of the Sandakphu trek: Tumling to Kalapokhri
Continue trekking over the mountain ridge along the Indo-Nepalese border towards today's destination of Kalapokhri. Trekking through the Singalila National Park, you'll make your way across views of the Kumbhakarna, Kanchenjunga, Kabru, Goecha-La and Rathong peaks. You'll trek under patches of dense rhododendron and magnolia, apart from several other alpine flowers and wildlife. Overnight in a tea-house at Kalapokhri.

Trek from Tumling to Kalpokhri. You'll be accommodated in basic tea-houses at Kalpokhri on triple/multi-sharing basis. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Day 4 of the Sandakphu trek: Kalapokhri to Sandakphu
On the most awaited day of the trek, you'll climb higher to reach the village of Sandakphu. You'll trek along the mountain ridge, with sections involving a steep and strenuous climb, with spectacular mountain peaks on either side of the trail. On reaching Sandakphu, you can relax to views of the Seven Sister peaks, and even Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Makalu on clear, cloudless days. Overnight in a tea-house at Sandakphu.

Day 5 of the Sandakphu trek: Sandakphu to Sepi
Begin the descent from Sandakphu for one of the longest days of the trek. En route to Sepi, you'll make your way across forests of rhododendron and bamboo, with possible sightings of red pandas and bears. Just before reaching Sepi, you'll trek alongside the Sri Khola River before crossing the stream and arriving at Sepi. Overnight in a tea-house at Sepi.

Trek from Sandakphu to Sepi. Since you'll be trekking alongside the Indo-Nepalese border, you'll be required to stop and present your ID at several check-posts along the way. Travel back to the New Jalpaiguri railway station to arrive by 18:30 hrs. Although transport from Sepi to New Jalpaiguri is not included in the package, it is strongly recommended to take the additional transfer from Sepi. Travelling across the winding roads of West Bengal, you'll arrive at new Jalpaiguri by 18:30 hrs, subject to traffic conditions. Your trip ends here.

Transport from New Jalpaiguri to Kopidana on day 1 and transport from Sepi to New Jalpaiguri on day 6 is not included in the package. Travel arrangements can be made for an additional cost of INR 9,500 per vehicle, one-way, in a Sumo/Xylo with a capacity of 5-7 travellers.
The tour operator reserves the right to change or cancel the itinerary of this trek to Sandakphu due to bad weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff. Travellers are required to bear any additional costs arising due to such a change in itinerary.
The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life during the trek to Sandakphu.
