New Jalpaiguri Railway Station is well connected to major cities of the country via frequent trains from New Delhi and Kolkata. Travellers can board a flight to Bagdogra from most major airports of the country.
This trek to Singalila Pass and Phalut trek will take you through the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary and Singalila National Park where bushes of brightly coloured flowers adorn the trail. Walk through dense forests of magnolia, conifers and bamboo and look up towards the horizon to admire captivating views of towering Himalayan mountain peaks. On a clear day, your trail will lead you to vantage points offering mesmerizing views of four of the highest peaks in the world - Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu. Encounter rare birds and animals that frequent the trail such as the red panda, green-tailed sunbird, barking deer, satyr trogopan and many more. As the sun goes down and the sky turns crimson red, you will stay inside alpine tents pitched at picturesque campsites.

The Singalila Pass and Phalut trek begins at the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary. Dedicated to brightly coloured rhododendron flowers that are native to high altitudes, the sanctuary is a delightful maze of red, white and yellow flowers. As you continue trekking, you will enter the Singalila National Park. The national park is layered on top of the namesake Singalila mountain range that runs parallel to the Indo-Nepalese border. The 11,800 ft high Phalut mountain peak is one of the tallest peaks in the region. The tales of its beauty have inspired local villagers, some of whom even worship the mountain peak as an omniscient god.

Arrive at the pick-up spot at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport by 08:00 hrs. Board private, shared vehicles and travel to the trek starting point at Hilley. The route will take you through the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary and the evergreen forests of the Himalayan foothills. In Hilley, you will get your first glimpse of the Sikkim mountain ranges. You will be accommodated in comfortable dorm-style tourist lodges at Hilley. En route, stop at the town of Jorethang to pick up any last minute essentials or withdraw cash from the ATM. Hilley does not have any shops or banking services. Meals for the day are not included in the meal package. You may stop at local restaurants and eateries to have lunch and dinner.
