The Kathgodam station is one of the main stations in the district. You can book train tickets from Kathgodam to Delhi for about INR 150-400, but do make sure you book in advance. Regular buses also ply from ISBT Delhi to Kathgodam.
This easy trek to Binsar allows you to get away from Delhi for a weekend in the wild! You'll board a train from the concrete jungle and wake up in the gorgeous environs of Kathgodam. From here, you'll set off through pine forests and climb up into the mountains. In no time, you'll be in the midst of a wildlife sanctuary, where clear rivulets flow under your feet and where distant snow-capped peaks surround you. This Binsar trek is the perfect option for a quick weekend adventure, and is suitable for beginners.
The Binsar Sanctuary is in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand and is home to the barking deer, leopards, the Himalayan black bear, and the sambhar. This protected area is filled with alpine forests, ancient temples, quaint villages, and trails lined with rhododendron trees. As you hop over sparkling streams, you'll enjoy the sounds of nature, and the views of peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Panchachuli, and the Kumaon Himalayan range. The months of October to March are the best time to visit, with pleasant days and chilly nights.

You'll be picked up at Kathgodam at 06:00 hrs, and will board vehicles to the wildlife sanctuary. The drive is about 4 hours long, and you'll start to see the landscape change around you. At the wildlife sanctuary, you'll start your trek. You'll cross rickety bridges over clear streams, stop for hot tea at tiny tea stalls, and walk past quaint villages on your way to your guesthouse/campsite. You'll be walking through pine and rhodendron forests, to Jwalabanj, where you'll stop for the night. The trail and the campsite offer great views of the mountains, so do keep your camera ready. Overnight in a guesthouse or in eco camp in tents.

You'll be picked up at Kathgodam station and driven to Binsar. Today's package includes packed lunch and dinner, but the vehicle will be stopping for breakfast en route, so you can choose and pay for your own preferred meal. At night, you will be staying at a basic guesthouse or in an eco camp. If you're camping, you will be provided with tents (on triple sharing basis), sleeping bags and mattresses. In addition, you'll also have access to toilet tents, and a kitchen/dining tent.

For any cancellations made 24 days or more prior to the departure of the Binsar trek: 95% of the total trip cost will be refunded minus any transaction charges, or you can use this amount to book any other trek with the same operator within a year.
For cancellations made 14-24 days before the departure of the Binsar trek: 70% of the total trip cost will be refunded minus any transaction charges, or you can use this amount to book the same trek with any other batch of the same operator within a year.
For any cancellations made 10-14 days before the departure of the Binsar trek: 50% of the total trip cost will be refunded minus any transaction charges, or you can use this amount for the same trek in the same season.
For cancellations made less than 10 days before the departure of the Binsar trek: No refund but you can transfer the same trek to a friend, for the same departure.
Transferring the batch depends on the availability of seats.
Participants must adhere to the instructions of the trip leader/guide at all times during the Binsar trek.
Consumption of alcoholic beverages/drugs is not permitted while trekking.
