    The Kedartal Trek is a moderately difficult trek best suited for experienced trekkers. It is a pristine, unknown trek which takes you from Gangotri to Kedartal. This is one of the most rewarding treks in the Himalayas for its breathtaking views and the landscape that it takes you through. You follow the Bhagirathi river till Gangotri, and then Kedar Ganga to its source at Kedartal. On the trek, you also get to see the majestic views of the Bhrigupant peak, Jogin group of mountains, and the imposing Thalaysagar. You might even get a chance to bathe in the hot water springs of Gangnani.


    Kedartal, also known as Shiva's Lake, is one of the highest lakes in Uttarakhand, it is nestled in the Himalayas at an altitude of 14,518 feet above sea level. It is at the base of the Thalaysagar Peak. On the trek, you will cross through dense fir and birch forests, and across the tree line. After that, the trek becomes strenuous and takes you over massive boulders and stones.

  • Day 1 of the Kedartal Trek: Dehradun to Gangnani

    You will report to the pick-up point, from where you will be driven to Gangnani which is known for its hot water springs. It is a 190 kms drive which will take about 8 hrs. If time permits, you might even drive to Gangotri. Overnight in a guesthouse at Gangnani.

    Today's meal package only includes dinner which will be served at the guesthouse in Gangnani. | Note: If the guesthouse is not available at Gangnani/Gangotri, then you will spend the night in tents.

  • Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made 30 days or more before departure of the Kedartal trek: 100% refund.

    For cancellations made 15-29 days before departure of the Kedartal trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 15 days before departure of the Kedartal trek: no refund.

    In case of no show: no refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting the cost of accommodation, travel and other expenses already incurred by the tour operator.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Rules on trip

    Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited during the trip. Consumption of cigarettes and other tobacco products is not recommended.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing any general disturbance.

    Travellers are required to follow instructions of the trek leader during the Kedartal trek.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life during the Kedartal trek.

    The tour operator reserves the right to cancel or alter the itinerary of the Kedartal trek depending upon the weather conditions and other factors. If extra costs are incurred due to changes in the itinerary, they will be borne by the traveller.
