Kuari Pass Trek

The Kuari Pass trek is a beautiful trek that takes you into the lush green interiors of Uttarakhand’s mountains. With a moderate trail, you’ll find yourself trekking through lush green forests, vast meadows and some snowy trails as you reach the Pass. En route, you’ll also be exposed to brilliant Himalayan peaks such as the Nanda Devi, Dunagiri amongst many other mountains. Moreover, from the beginning of the trek itself you’ll witness other brilliant sights such as the confluence of the Alaknanda and Pindari rivers, the grand aarti on the Alaknanda river bank, Gorson Bugyal, remote villages and much more. | Although this Kuari Pass trek doesn’t take you to the highest points within the Himalayas, it is still considered as a very popular trek in Uttarakhand. Ideal for all kind of trekking enthusiasts, even relatively new trekkers can embark on this trail.  | To book the Kuari Pass trek a minimum of 4 pax are required.

You'll begin your journey with a pick-up from the Dehradun Railway Station early in the morning and make your way towards Karnaprayag. It is where the Alaknanda and Pindari rivers meet. If you're lucky, you'll reach in time to witness the grand aarti that takes place on Alaknanda's riverbank. However, once you reach, you'll spend the night in comfortable guesthouses.

Wake up early and post breakfast make your way towards Dhak. It is short 30-minute drive and the start point of your trek. From Dhak you'll begin a beautiful trek towards Guling. This route encompasses an uphill trek, trailing through a forest and passing by 2 remote villages. You'll reach Guling by evening, from where views of the Dunagiri peak can be seen. Overnight in tents.

Wake up in the midst of nature and begin your day early with a filling breakfast. Post breakfast you'll make your way towards Lower Khullara. It is an easy trek that encompasses a gradual slope upwards through forests of rhododendron, pine and oak. Lower Khullara is a open meadow where views of Dunagiri, Hathi and Ghodi can be seen. Overnight in tents.

Once again you'll begin your day early as you embark on the trek towards Kuari Pass. A moderate route, you'll trek upwards, pass a ridge and then reach the Kuari Pass. From atop the pass spectacular mountain views can be seen. Finally you'll then head down towards Taali. You'll trek till you reach a small hillock with a flag; from there peaks of Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, Mana, Hathi, Ghodi and Dunagiri can be seen. By late evening you'll reach Taali. Overnight in tents.

You'll begin your return journey today with a trek towards Auli. It is an easy journey with a forested trail and you'll pass Taali Lake with views of the Nanda Devi peak. You'll also pass through Gorson Bugyal, a beautiful large meadow. Finally you'll reach Auli by late afternoon from where you'll drive back to Karnaprayag. Overnight in guesthouses.

Cancellation policy

For cancellations made 30 days before the departure date of the Kuari Pass trek: 100 refund | Cancellations made between 15 to 30 days before the departure date of the Kuari Pass trek: 50% refund | For cancellations made 15 days before the departure date of the Kuari Pass trek: No refund | For cancellations made by the operator due to natural calamities etc: No refund will be levied, however you can book a future trek for upto 6 months from the departure date of the Kuari Pass trek date | All cancellations/refunds on this trip will be processed after a deduction of INR 200 per person. | This fee is charged by The Great Next and is applicable for all cancellations.

Participants must adhere to the instructions of the trip leader/guide at all times during this Kuari Pass trek. | Consumption of alcoholic beverages/drugs is not permitted during the Kuari Pass trek. | Littering or any damage to natural habitats is strictly forbidden during the Kuari Pass trek.
