    Spend a week in the Kumaon Himalayas of Uttarakhand and journey to the pristine white snowfields of the Pindari Glacier. As you climb over steep inclines on a moderately intense trail, you'll conquer exciting, new challenges of ascending to an altitude of over 12,300 feet. During your final approach to the glacier, you'll wear crampons on your shoes and hike over thick sections of hard snow. Upon reaching the destination, stunning views of snow-capped peaks in the Nanda Devi mountain range reward your week-long efforts.

    It is recommended that the travellers have experience of at least one high altitude trek before booking the Pindari Glacier trek.

    The Pindari Glacier, located near the southern edge of the Nanda Devi National Park, is a vast stretch of snow-covered terrain in the Kumaon Himalayas of Uttarakhand. The approach route in the Pindari Valley, following the upstream course of the glacier-fed Pindari River, offers an experience of sprawling thick jungles, super-sized rocky landscapes, high-rising mountain peaks and quaint hamlets. The trek, which involves crossing the Dhakri Khal pass and the confluence of Pindari and Kafni rivers, is a perfect fit for adventure junkies looking for a challenge.

  • Day 1 of the Pindari Glacier trek: Kathgodam to Loharkhet

    You'll be picked-up from the Kathgodam railway station by 06:00 hrs, and driven to the base camp at Loharkhet in a Tata Sumo or similar private vehicle. The 8-hr drive from Kathgodam will take you on twisting mountain roads, alongside the Bhimtal Lake and the Saryu River, past the towns of Almora and Bageshwar, with views of green hills all around you. Overnight in a guesthouse at Loharkhet.

    Report at the Kathgodam railway station at 06:00 hrs. You'll travel from Kathgodam to Loharkhet in a Tata Sumo or similar private vehicle. No meals are provided during transit, however, you will halt for lunch in the afternoon and can order and pay for your own meal. You'll be accommodated in a guesthouse at Loharkhet.

    For cancellations made more than 24 days before departure of the Pindari Glacier trek: 95% refund.

    For cancellations made 14-24 days before departure of the Pindari Glacier trek: 70% refund.

    For cancellations made 10-13 days before departure of the Pindari Glacier trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 10 days before departure of the Pindari Glacier trek: no refund.

    In case of no show: no refund.

    All refunds will be paid after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Rules on trip

    Travellers are required to follow instructions of the trek leader during the Pindari Glacier trek.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    If you wish to interact with the local natives at villages during the trek, please consult your trek leader before approaching them.

    Consumption of alcohol, drugs or tobacco products like cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the Pindari Glacier trek.

    The tour operator reserves the right to alter or cancel the itinerary of Pindari Glacier trek to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff. High altitude treks may face unpredictable weather conditions that may change the mentioned itinerary. Any costs arising due to such a change in the itinerary are borne by the traveller.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life and property during the Pindari Glacier trek.
