  • Trip introduction

This winter, head out to the mountains for a snow experience that is postcard-perfect! The snow trek to Dodital and Darwa Pass is beautiful all year round, but during the winters, it truly comes alive. You'll walk on blankets of pure snow, trek up to the clear Dodital lake, and spend time admiring the gorgeous views from Darwa Pass.

This is a moderately challenging trek, but can be done by fit first-timers looking for a mountain adventure. The best part of this trek to Darwa Pass is that it gives you options at all stages. If you want to sleep in tents in the snow at Dodital, you can. But for those who don't want to (or if it's too cold for anyone to sleep outside), there are rooms at a forest guesthouse just nearby, so you can choose how outdoorsy your experience is. If you'd rather stay behind at Dodital lake while the others head up the climb to Darwa Pass, you can stay back and relax at the lake.

    Destination

The snow trek to Dodital starts from the small but busy village of Sangam Chatti. As it winds upwards, the crowds thin out, leaving you and your team to enjoy the snowy panoramas in bliss. Dodital lake, with crystal water filled with trout, and surrounded with pine, oak and deodar trees, makes for a beautiful stopover. The trek to Darwa Pass is a good climb, with a walk through snow-covered meadows, and one steep section at the end. The views from here are spectacular, with Nanda Devi, Bandar Poonch, Swargarohini, and a few other iconic peaks towering above the Har ki Dun valley.
