If there is a place that can be described as picture-perfect, Dodital is it. Dodital or Emerald Lake does total justice to its name as it reflects its lush surroundings, glowing green with specks of clouds from the sky.
This trek is a bird watcher’s paradise as it winds through oak and pine forests that are home to a variety of birds. This section of the trail is a delight, with fresh clean air and birdsong all around.
While the lake is a serene haven, the trek to the top is an adventurous one as you camp beside the riverside, walk through Himalayan villages and ascend to over 10,000 feet to capture magnificent views of the peaks around!
Dodital is a freshwater lake that is home to the rare Himalayan trout called Dodi, after which it is named. One of the most picturesque lakes in the Western Garhwal Himalayas, it is accessible from two sides - the Hanuman Chatti side and the Barsu side. On one corner of the lake is a temple dedicated to an Indian goddess while all around there are oak and rhododendron trees backed by imposing mountains making it the perfect place to capture stunning photographs. Darwa Top is a short hike away from the lake which provides enviable views on all sides of some famous peaks such as Draupadi ka Danda and Srikanth.

The first day of the trip is a drive of 180 kms starting from Haridwar. You will wind through Narendranaar, Chamba, Dharasu, Uttarkashi and onwards to Sangam Chatti which is situated at an elevation of 4420 feet. From Sangam Chatti it is time to stretch those legs as you take a 2 hour trek to Bhewra village where the campsite is situated. This is where the real fun begins as you camp on the banks of the river Assi Ganga! Overnight at campsite.

Participants opting for additional service of mules must note that weight of 1 bag should not be more than 12 kgs
Rent for trekking shoes is Rs. 200 per trekking day. The charges once rented will be applicable irrespective of whether the shoes are worn or not during the trek.
Rent for a walking stick is Rs. 50 per trekking day. The charges once rented are applicable irrespective if the stick is used or not.
