• Trip introduction

Imagine a crystal clear lake nestled amidst snow-peaked mountains. Ruinsara Tal or lake is just that- a glittering jewel with a breathtaking backdrop!

Walking through forests and fields, apple orchards and orchid meadows, trekkers traverse lakes and scenic villages on this trip to get the true taste of life in the mountains.

This 8 day trip goes from Dehradun all the way to Govind National Park on a trek of a lifetime where you explore glaciers and peaks as well as forests and meadows.

Govind National Park is famous for its wild flowers and you get to see some of the most exotic species of orchids as well as explore the Banderpoonch Range, located at a dizzying 6300m that is a challenging yet fulfilling experience.

Located at the foot of Mt. Kalanag in Govind National Park, Ruinsara Tal is considered sacred by locals. The surrounding meadows are a haven for wildflowers, specifically orchids that bloom here in abundance. Local shepherds grazing their sheep, beautiful dense forests, gleaming glaciers all form part of the scenery here.

The area was made popular by Jack Gibson, a teacher at Doon School in the late 1940s and has since attracted adventurers and nature lovers. The trek follows the course of the Tons river – a tributary of the holy Yamuna – from Netwar village up through Gangad, Seema and Osla.
