Trek to Triund

The Triund trek is a popular adventure trail for travellers stopping at Dharamshala or McLeodganj. It gives you a chance to escape into the mountains, walk through the most beautiful scenery, climb to 6831 feet, and camp at the top, with breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar range all around. The Triund trek is great for beginners who are looking for an easy trek, or if you want to try camping in the Himalayas without the commitment of a longer trek.

IMPORTANT: This is not a fixed departure trek, so you will need a minimum of 2 travellers to book this Triund trek.


Located at the foot of the Dhauladhar range, Triund is a small hill in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Although Triund is widely known as the base camp for trekkers climbing to Indrahara Pass, the trek to Triund is also a popular short trek.

This two-day Triund trek will begin at McLeodganj, giving you a chance to explore Tibetan culture, and then passing through Dharamkot, where you can visit the famous Galu Devi Temple, which is 3 hours away from Triund. Upon reaching Triund, you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of the Dhauladhar mountain ranges. After spending a restful night in tents and eating a fulfilling breakfast, you will begin your journey back to McLeodganj.

Begin your day at McLeodganj at 08:00 hrs, where you will meet your guide for a short briefing session. After this, your Triund trek begins. You'll go via Dharamkhot, where you can visit the famous Galu temple. The Triund trek trail goes through patches of lush greenery, combined with sections thorugh oak and deodar trees, making this a pleasant and enjoyable climb. Once you reach Triund, you will eat a delicious lunch, after which you can explore the area and absorb the panoramic view of the Dhauladhar ranges. Your day will end with dinner and an overnight stay in tents.

Overnight in tents at Triund

You'll camp for the night at Triund. You'll be provided with tents on triple sharing basis, as well as sleeping bags and mats. A kitchen tent is set up for your use: you can expect a mixed veg pulao and pickle for lunch, tea in the evening, and a hot dinner of dal, vegetable, rice and chapati.

You'll wake up to stunning views of the morning mist and the mountains all around. Enjoy a hot cup of tea and breakfast, and then its time to check out. After that, you begin your descent. You'll return to McLeodganj by late afternoon or evening. Your Triund trek ends here.

Trip ends by late afternoon.

Begin your day early with morning tea and compliment it with a hot breakfast, such as porridge or stuffed paratha with pickle or toast with butter, jam and omelette. You'll have toilet tents for your convenience, and will begin your trek back to McLeodganj after that. Trip ends before night.

Cancellation policy

For cancellations made 30 days or more before departure of the Triund trek: 90% of trek cost will be refunded, minus any transaction charges.

For cancellations made 21-30 days prior to departure of the Triund trek: 60% of trek cost will be refunded, minus any transaction charges.

For cancellations made 20-11 days prior to departure of the Triund trek: 30% of trek cost will be refunded, minus any transaction charges.

For cancellations 0-10 days prior to departure of the Triund trek: No refund.

No show and changes/cancellation on the Triund trek due to bad weather or natural calamity will be non-refundable.

Rules on trip

Trekkers are expected to maintain cleanliness at the campsites and throughout the Triund trek trail. Please do not litter around and if possible, collect garbage on the way and dispose it off at proper sites.

Please do not disturb fellow trekkers while on Triund trek.

The trek leader's decision is final during the trek.

There is a strict rule against alcohol and drugs during the Triund trek. Trekkers will be expected to follow it.

Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

Any additional costs due to weather /unforeseen situations will have to be borne by the traveller.

The team reserves the right to change the plan in case there is danger involved for the group or whenever the trek leader deems it necessary.

Cancellation of the Triund trek due to bad weather or a natural calamity will be non-refundable.
