The Valley of Flowers is a world heritage site and is part of the famous Nanda Devi Biosphere. It covers 87 sq kms and rises to an elevation of 3250 metres. This national park in the far interiors of Garhwal Himalayas (Uttarakhand) plays host to many endemic varieties of alpine flowers and plants, as well as many rare & endangered animals like the Asiatic black bear, brown bear, snow leopard, blue sheep and more.

Peak blooming season is from mid July to mid August. Almost 300 species of wild flowers bloom here, including Brahmakamal, Blue Poppy, Cobra Lily Anemone, Geranium, Marsh Marigold & Prinula. There are waterfalls, glaciers, towering mountains, big rivers and quaint villages.

    • Take a dip in the freezing Hemkund Sahib lake if you dare
