This trek to the Valley of Flowers takes you into an ethereal lush green valley, where a colourful abundance of flowers bloom for only a short window of time every year. You'll trek through a world heritage site, up to beautiful vantage points and higher reaches, and on to Hemkund Sahib, where you'll see the sacred Hemkund Sahib lake.
This is a moderately challenging trek and can even be attempted by fit first-time travellers with a little effort.
The Valley of Flowers trek takes you to a world heritage site and is part of the famous Nanda Devi Biosphere. It covers 87 sq kms and rises to an elevation of 3250 metres. This national park in the far interiors of Garhwal Himalayas (Uttarakhand) plays host to many endemic varieties of alpine flowers and plants, as well as many rare and endangered animals like the Asiatic black bear, brown bear, snow leopard, blue sheep and more.
Peak blooming season is from mid July to mid August. Almost 300 species of wild flowers bloom here, including Brahmakamal, Blue Poppy, Cobra Lily Anemone, Geranium, Marsh Marigold and primula. There are waterfalls, glaciers, towering mountains, big rivers and quaint villages.

Meet the operator at Haridwar railway station at 07:00 hrs and from here, you'll be driven to Govindghat (near Joshimath). This is a long, interesting drive of 8-9 hours. Most of the journey takes you along the Ganga and Alaknanda rivers. En route you will pass the holy towns of Rishikesh, Dev Prayag and Rudra Prayag. You'll check in to a standard hotel in Govindghat where you will spend the night in triple-sharing rooms.
Overnight in Govindghat, in Hotel Badrish or similar. You'll be picked up from Haridwar today and will be driven to Govindghat. You'll check in to triple-sharing rooms with attached washrooms and all bedding. The rooms have hot water geysers, but in case of electricity outage, you will be provided with one bucket of hot water per trekker, in the morning and evening. Today's package includes dinner.

If you cancel 30-45 days before departure of the Valley of Flowers trek: 75% of trip cost will be refunded (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.) minus any transaction charges.
If you cancel 15-30 days before departure of the Valley of Flowers trek: 50% of trip cost will be refunded (after deducting any expenses that have been incurred for hotel bookings, transport, etc.) minus any transaction charges.
If you cancel 15 days or less before departure of the Valley of Flowers trek: No refund.
The operator has a set of guidelines for the Valley of Flowers trek that must be adhered to based on the tenets of ‘Leave No Trace’ & ‘Tread Light’ policies. These guidelines are very simple and emphasise on travelling in small groups, better planning, understanding impact of camping, proper waste disposal, respecting local cultures, sensitivity towards wildlife and so on.
Participants must adhere to the instructions of the team leader during the trek to Hemkund Sahib.
Smoking, consumption of alcohol, narcotic drugs etc. is strictly prohibited on the Valley of Flowers trek.
While trekking participants must follow a proper waste disposal system.
